Eden Prairie, MN (January 3, 2012) – The Vikings have named Rick Spielman General Manager of the franchise. Spielman joined the team in 2006 and has served as Vice President of Player Personnel during his tenure with the Vikings. The 2012 season will be Spielman’s 22nd season as an NFL executive between Detroit, Chicago, Miami and Minnesota. Spielman will oversee all football-related activities for the Vikings, including continuing to direct college and pro personnel programs.

“This establishes the organizational structure that will lead to the long term success of the Vikings,” said Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf. “Having watched Rick over the years, we have the utmost confidence that he will help us reach our ultimate goal of winning championships.”

“Rick has proven to be a valuable member of the organization since joining the Vikings in 2006,” said Owner/President Mark Wilf. “With Rick’s and Coach Frazier’s leadership, the Vikings are well-positioned to win next season and beyond.”

Eden Prairie, MN (December 27, 2011) – Defensive end Jared Allen was named to his 4th Pro Bowl after having a career-year for the Minnesota Vikings. The 8-year veteran has a personal-best 18.5 sacks and is 3.0 sacks away from setting the franchise single-season sack record held by Chris Doleman (21.0). Allen currently leads the NFL in sacks (18.5) and fumble recoveries (4). Twice this season Allen has posted 3-sack games. Since entering the league in 2004, Allen leads all players with 101.5 sacks. Allen recorded his 4th career safety this season, which ties an NFL record for most safeties in a career.

The Minnesota Vikings and John Sullivan, 26, have agreed to a contract
extension. The 4th-year center joined the Vikings organization as a
6th-round draft pick out of Notre Dame in 2008. Sullivan became the starting
center in 2009 and has appeared in 58 games, making 42 starts. The
Connecticut native has helped the 2011 Vikings rank 4th in the NFL in
rushing through 14 weeks of play.

"John embodies a true Minnesota Viking, on and off the field. He is a
valuable member to our team and a key part of our future. This is a big
moment for John, and the Minnesota Vikings, we are very pleased a deal has
    been reached." - Mark Wilf

"Over the last 4 years, John has contributed in countless ways to the Vikings
organization. He has been very active in the community along with being a
key member along our offensive line. John is a bright young man and we are
fortunate to have him in the Vikings organization." - Zygi Wilf

"We are very excited about the future of John Sullivan. He has quickly become
a leader among the offensive linemen. John is having an outstanding 2011
season and he is a big part of why our rushing attack is near the top in the
NFL. We are thrilled about having John as a member of the Minnesota Vikings
for years to come." - Head Coach Leslie Frazier
