Spielman in no hurry to sign DB's

Spielman defended his approach, saying: "I just really believe in doing the due diligence and being patient." He added "there's no hurry for anything" and pointed out that veteran cornerbacks Chris Cook and Antoine Winfield should form a decent foundation for the Vikings' 2012 secondary.

Sounds like a great plan! Take your time, don't fix the things that need fixed. Keep signing basketball players first....

I understand the thought process....but....Why are we signing guys to 1 year deals?
If you believed they have the talent they have. Why aren't we locking them up for longer contracts at low values. Next season when they all have career years, we wont be able to pay them all and will be back to square one.

Likely because he doesn't seem them in the Vikings' long term plans.

he sees Erin as a questionmark, give him a shot to prove his worth. The other guys he's signing short-term are simply because there's nothing better available that he wants to lock up long-term. He's obviously not going after big-name players so re-sign some guys, get some depth and draft.

not saying I like it, but that seems to be his mindset.

Name a team that has won anything by changing starters every year?

he's putting purple jerseys on the roster. Its clear to me that the only position that we havent signed someone this off season has been WR... Dont be surprised if Blackmon is a Viking.

Kris Adams is pretty good, i hope he makes the team next year..

Our faith is in the hands of Spielman and we need an awesome draft with nearly everyone working out, hopefully he can give it to us, however he recently said we had a good draft last year and i didn't see any of our picks actually doing something significant on the field.. So i don't know what his standards is.

It's so when Wilf fires Spielman after being GM for 1 year, his 1 year players can go with him. The real GM they hire next may not want them.
