Draft...
I seriously think the Vikings should entertain trade offers for our #1 pick. I think there is enough studs that we need (DB's, OL WR) that will linger into the low teens... Why not trade our #3 to a team desperate for one of the alledged stud QB's...

Well, if we can get a deal like the Saints did to get Rickey Williams, like we gave Dallas for Walker or Atlanta gave for Jones then I would be all for it, but if we are giving up our 3 slot for a spot in the teens and the potential for a 1st next year in the teens then no way would I do it.
Then again the way the team is unraveling we are probably going to be picking higher next year than we are this year.

This.
I am for a trade with someone like the Browns or the Redskins so that we are not moving back that far. Hell, if we are savvy enough, we may be able to get the Browns to swap picks with us to keep us from trading it to the Skins (because both teams could covet RGIII) then we can take whomever we wanted anyways at No. 4 and pick something up either later in this draft, or higher in next year's draft.
I think it is likely that we will be talked to by a lot of teams that are interested in RGIII because if he gets to No. 4 he will definitely be gone. So, if we hear something we like and the Browns desperately want him, we can go to them as well.
Going to be interesting at least.

There is some buzz that RGIII might not enter the draft this year which would put a huge monkey wrench into the draft board.
BTW
I have been lobbying to take Claiborne from LSU with the 3 pick but as i sit and watch the BCS title game I am anything but impressed with his play. He has been nearly nonexistent in run support and has been a step to slow to make any plays on the field plus he just gave up on the last play where Alabama ran for a TD to put them up by 21. I am officially off his bandwagon so I guess it is Blackmon or nothing.

Were we watching the same game, he seemed like he was in on more tackles than not while I had the game on. I like Claiborne at 3 but My thoughts are that St. Louis will take Kahlil at #2 or trade the pick to Cleveland or Washington. Depending on whether they make a pick or trade we have options.
We'd be fine with Khalil or Claiborne but we should try and stockpile picks and move back while keeping Claiborne atleast in the draft. If we can trade #3 and move back to #4 then we can get draft picks and pick up claiborne.None

I'd love Kalil but if the Rams take him at #2 I think we can get a good trade from either Cleveland, Wash, or Miami. Cleveland has a #4 and #22 in the first round so a trade for these would be great! If the Rams trade we get Kalil so that's good too.
Most mock drafts have us taking Blackmon at WR. I admittedly do not know that much about him but at only 6'1" I would much rather trade down. Of course if Claiborne or Blackmon are true game changers than they'd be good picks but who knows?
I just hope we do something GREAT with our highest draft pick ever (excluding the obligatory #1 in our 1961 expansion year.)Last edited by TNViking; 01-12-2012 at 03:28 PM.

The Rams pick will be interesting. Do they take Kalil? In the past three years they have invested a 2nd and 1st round picks on Tackles in Peters and Saffold. Now they have not played all that great, but will they take another T? If I were them I would trade the pick or take Kalil, but Fisher might think he can develop the yound ones and the team.
Do they take Blackmon? Last year they took WRs Pettis and Salas in rounds 3 and 4 respectively, and they played fairly well for rookie WRs and Bradford hurt.
They could probably use Claiborne, but CBs don't get drafted in the top 3 picks usually.
So really I see the Fisher taking Kalil or auctioning the 2nd pick for teams hungry for RG3.
If the Rams do take Kalil, i hope we trade the pick move back for extra picks.
