Re: What's so great about Dom Capers?

Yes.. I want to pretend there is a larger scheme at hand... one that is designed to "set up" the Vikings this weekend.. but I think that right there is truly false hope.
    ;D

Seriously though.. I think they are holding some of the packages back yet because of inexperience in the system.. but still, you have to be able to stop the run if you commit 8 into the box.. there was a couple of snaps this past weekend where we went with 3 down lineman and 5 backers (3 interior backers) and still gave up a couple of yard on a carry or two in that set..

Yes.. not a safety dropped into the box.. but a 5th backer.

    Cedric Benson-151 yards
Steven Jackson-117 (jackson is a good back, but his oline is terrible)

Peterson may be looking at a career day (yep, another one)
...Rodgers had to hold on the ball longer, giving players like Jared "I am completely insane and will literally eat your children" Allen time to sack Rodgers again. And again. And again. Actually I think Rodgers may have nightmares about Jared Allen the rest of the year.

The Packers are already banged up.

Yes, but not as banged up as they will be on Tuesday morning.

    No argument here.

I will say this for Dom.

I have no idea (still) what will happen in this game defensively.
I have many indications that things could go very badly for us.
I have some indications that things could go very good for us.

My opinion is that AD may decide this game, far more than BF.

If it is BF deciding things, well, that probably means some very good things are going on for the Pack offensively, with not an extremely bad situation developing defensively regarding AD.

JA and our LT is my greatest fear, but that is the subject of another thread, mostly...except all of the above.
If we can get decent o-line play, we are going to beat you.
It IS related to Capers and our D.

We are a "big play" team right now.
Our offense, our defense, and our opponents offense (as in we give 'em up)
We have not been able to stop the run.

We MIGHT not need to, is all I'm trying to say.

As you said, you are a "big play" team.
Big plays take time to develop, something that will be in short supply come Monday.
JA and KW are more the impatient type, and if you double them PW and RE will make you pay.
With EJ in the center I wouldn't count on AR's legs to bail you out this time.
Still stranger things have been known to happen.
    Just not this time.

I think as long as the D doesn't blow some coverages and let a Greg Jennings run down the field untouched they should be in great shape.

    Dom Caper's D hasn't really delivered yet.
Yes they have a ton of INT's but the sacks don't seem to be piling up which is what the hope was with this new scheme.

they had the interceptions with their old scheme.
So far it seems its the same-old.

But the Steelers run the 3-4 defense and they won the super bowl so...

    3-4 = Super Bowl

Dick Lebeau's 3-4 with the proper personell = Superbowl
