The Vikings are 2.5 point favorites...
I was talking to my Minnesota Viking fan buddy out here in Pennsylvania.
He told me that not only is he excited about this upcoming football game, but so are his buddies in Minnesota and California.
Seems that he has a Minnesota/California mind-meld thing going with many of his "buddies".
Apparently he was "talking" to Jessie Ventura, Al Franken and Arnold Schwartznegger, all at once.
I tried to tell him that I wasn't quite following what he was trying to say, but he kept interrupting me because the voices were interrupting him.
After he finished his conversation, he told me that the Vikings are really counting on this win in order to help propel the smooth transition to LA.
He also told me that there was some election run-off between Al Franken and some other guy for a U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota.
I told him that he was b.s.'ing me, that he was confused about the Jessie thing, and what the heck is he talking about California for?
Well, he want on to explain it in some depth, mentioned something along the lines that Minnesota is pretty much like California with ice fishing, anyway, plus added that I'd be going nuts too if I had to put up with half the crazy crap that's been coming out of his state, not to mention having to root for Chilly and the Vikings in the first place... I bought him another beer... I was trying to sympathize, ya know?
;D

What the fuck does any of that mean?
Re: The Vikings are 2.5 point favorites...
I don't usually take any predictions real serious (unless they perdict a Vikings victory) but Fox Sports had an article that I really liked one part of very much.

Green Bay at Minnesota, 1 p.m.
Aaron Rodgers got the best of Minnesota in Week 1, but that was the T-Jack-led Vikings, not the high-flying Gus Frerotte version of today. Yes, "high-flying" and Gus Frerotte were just used in the same sentence. It's been a weird year, folks. The Pick: Minnesota 28, Green Bay 20

It means on a neutral field, the Packers would be .5 point favorites, which tells you that betting lines are hooey vs. reality.

You wrote it, you tell me.
You're talking about LA, but the topic is about the spread. WTF the connection?

Why is that huey? The vikings have been better at home every year for a while.
If you think betting lines are hooey you should put your money where your mouth is.

It's hooey because you can't score a half-a-point in football.
Someone being favored by .5 is just stupid when looking at reality.
And I don't bet money on my own teams.

It opened at 2.
I don't bet on my own teams either.
I got enough trouble without throwing that piece of potential frustration into the mix.

no its not, they give .5 favourites so that you don't get someone matching the spread.
They either win or lose, no draw.
