Re: shows how good packers are

I think the pass interference call was a bad one.
    Yes, there was contact.
But if the feet never would've been tangled and the WR hit the turf there would not have been a call.
I think they were looking at the result rather than what actually happened.

Put it this way, if it would've been the a Viking DB defending that and they called PI...we would've gone through the roof.
Or on the other hand, if it was a Viking WR and no PI was called...we would've went through the roof.

I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder.
And my eye says no PI.

I have to disagree. He actually has to do his job and cover the receiver before he can be owned.

Sometimes Harris is good, but a lot of times he pisses me off. He blows a lot of coverages. That game wasn't the game to do that.

I don't think anyone is worried about Billvike's opinion, he has proven time and time again that he is an idiot.
This is the same guy that posted how he thought it was funny when favre's dad died.
I don't think last nights game proved a whole lot.
The Cowboy's won a close game at home with the help of some key injuries to the Packers and some bad calls by the refs.
Even you Viking fans that watched that game and continually try to say that the refs favor the Packers, have to admit that the Packers were on the wrong side of some bad calls last night.
    \
I am one that always cries about calls.
The one call that was bad was the INT taken away from Harris when he stripped the ball from TO.
Other than that, I don't remember any others.
I didn't watch the entire game though.
The pass interference call was bogus too.
The PI call really could have gone either way.
I don't think his arm was enough to cause the PI, but I also don't think that getting their legs tangled was "incidental" by any means.
If he hadn't been all over his back their legs would not have gotten tangled.
    I do remember that call.
I have to agree with Nodak.
It could have gone either way and IMO it should have been called.
From my view it looked like the everything was pretty intentional to include the leg entanglement.
    Again, that's just my opinion.
I thought on the Packers first series when Favre went deep to Driver and the Cowboy defender never turned his head.
He was face guarding the entire play.
That was more of a pass interference penalty than the one they called against the Pack in the 4th quarter.

    [/quote]

Face guarding is not a penalty in the NFL.
It is in College and High School though.

I say PI but my eyes suck

If it were a Viking defending that play it would have been called no ifs ands or buts.
If it were a Viking WR there would be a 50-50 chance it would be called.
At least that's how I see it.
I think the bottom line on that call is that there was contact either way you look at it.
The touching may not have been that bad but there was still contact.
The leg entanglement is a matter of opinion however from what I remember it looked pretty purposeful.
If someone can dig up the video I'll watch it again.
Maybe that will change my view.

Play that video. It's about at the 2:38-ish mark.

    Thanks for the video.
After further review I still believe this is PI.
I'm not sure what Miles was watching when he stated the DB was looking back.
Not once did I see him look back.
Also, from the first angle it looks as though the defender may have pushed the WR in the back.
As far as the legs are concerned, it's really a judgement call that could have gone either way.
    Tough call to make really.
    It's hard to substantiate anything.

Then why make the call? If it's a tough call to make, it becomes an issue of assumption on the part of the refs. You can't make assumptions in such a huge game. If it isn't 100% clear, you don't make the call.

This is why pass interference of more than about 20 yards should be reviewable. It's too big a play to leave to assumptions.

Re: shows how good packers are

Watching it live I thought it just looked like their feet got tangled and didn't expect a flag.
After review there was a little bit of "hand-fighting" (as I recall, the video won't play here) but not enough to warrant a flag.
But it wasn't the most phantom-est PI call I've seen either, just kind of ticky-tack IMO.

    That being said:
Screw the Packers and the Cowboys!
    And that stupid-head Brett Favre!

Re: shows how good packers are

The contact with this hands did not lead to the player not catching the ball.

The fact that the feet were tangled is the reason why he had no chance.

    Bad call.

he did blow some, but he also had some high moments, like when he laid out owens at the line on that running play that was hellarious
