Green Bay Packers general manger, executive vice president and director of football operations Ted Thompson was named Sporting News' George Young NFL Executive of the Year Tuesday, March 25.

My Guess is because he finally got Farve to retire and end all of drama ;D

I don't keep track of all the GMs really, but he went into the season with everyone sorta doubting his team would be real good. But apparently he knew what he was doing. And he and the Packers proved many people (including myself) wrong.

LOL.. Well Favre hasn't filed for retirement yet, so if he doesn't does that mean they revoke this award?

yea but they seem to like to give it to "GM"s, which we don't have.
Altho yes its jsut for executives period, so he should definetly be in the running imo, but I'm a homer true & true

He certainly deserves alot of credit. Two years ago when we had a new staff and team on the rise with lots of talent and the Packers were looking like they were the worst team in the league, he went about using his draft picks to bring in guys that contributed from game 1 and went on to win a division title while we have yet to get to the same record we had in 2005.

For the first year or so, Ted was the anti-Christ.. but one 13-3 season and now you would think he is next in line for the Pope.. funny how winning sways the masses in sports eh.
