The Pack making big trades
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/04/13/a-long-snapper-gets-traded/
We’re not sure when the last long snapper was traded.
Before today.
The Packers have shipped long snapper J.J. Jansen to the Panthers for a “future conditional draft pick.â€
Jansen signed with the Packers last year as an undrafted free agent.
He spent all of 2008 on injured reserve.
Our guess?
The “future conditional draft pick†is a seventh-rounder in 2010, if the guy makes the Panthers’ 53-man roster in 2009.
How "conditional" can a Long snapper be? I'm not sure whats more funny the fact that the Pack made the trade or the fact that the Panthers accepted it?

Interesting, but didn't think this warranted a separate thread.

GREEN BAY -- Greg Paulus opted not to play college football, but that doesn't mean his time on the gridiron is necessarily over.
After a four-year career playing basketball at Duke, the former high-school Parade all-American quarterback worked out for the Green Bay Packers "a couple of days ago" at the school's Durham, N.C., campus, an NFL source said Monday night.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Re: The Pack making big trades
Thompson got the Panthers to cough up a "maybe" pick (Makes the roster or not) for a guy that we were on the verge of cutting anyway.. we currently have 67 players under contract with 9 picks up coming in the draft..
That leaves only 3 spots for UDFA rookies and Mark Tauscher..
Watch for a couple of fringe guys this week to get the ax.. or maybe we can talk Chilly into coughing up a pick or two for or recycles..
