a question to all those who support legalizing marijuana. How would you feel or what would your position be if you caught your 8 year old smoking a joint? And be honest. I ask this question to every citizen I come in contact with who happens to possess the stuff. I have yet to get an honest or straight answer.

well to answer your question I wouldn't like my 8 year old smokin' the herb but I also wouldn't like him to do a lot of things. If I caught my 8 year old drinking a bottle of whiskey for example I'd be pretty pissed as well. I will say this though, I would rather see my 21 year old child smoke a little herb than drink. From my personal experience marijuana is less harmful than alcohol.

well, i think I would be pretty upset if I found my 8-year old drinking or smoking tobacco too. But, I would be slightly more worried/concerned about them having a joint and here's why:

1) how did they get it? Who the hell gave it to them? Who gives an 8 yr old any kind of intoxicating substance?
2) marihuana is illegal (but not because it's "bad") and its circulation is supported by players in the black (i.e., extra-legal) market. Of course not all comes off of the black market, but a considerable amount does. There are some shady folks there that do bad things (but not because of marihuana). I'd want to know if my kid was caught in one of their sticky webs.

to summarize, an 8 year holding a marihuana joint would sound the alarms, but not because it was marihuana, per se, but because of the larger social context of the marihuana trade.

Now, enl, just because I support marihuana's legalization doesn't mean I want a laissez-faire, free-for-all run on the herb. I support its re-regulation. Adults should be lawfully able to make decision about the herb's use, or take it as medicine if it were prescribed. 8 year olds....well they need adult supervision around a lot of controlled substances: tobacco, alcohol, vicadin, etc. in this respect, marihuana is no different.

Let me ask you this how you feel if your 8 year old was watching porn or trying to act out some porn scene. Now be honset.

I'm not trying to be a smartbutt but 8years old is too young to be doing A LOT of things. If you said something like how would you like your 21-25 year old kid doing pot. Thats a more valid question to me. Still the answer would be NO.
