Favre victim of stolen identity
STAFF AND WIRE REPORTSA Phoenix man was arrested Thursday after allegedly using a credit card account belonging to Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre more than 40 times, authorities said.
The Arizona Attorney General's Office said William J. Joachim, 35, was arrested on four felony charges of theft, fraud schemes, aggravated taking the identity of another and misconduct involving weapons.
Two other men were arrested in the case and booked into the Maricopa County jail on forgery charges.
Arizona authorities received information from the NFL last month that Favre's credit card account had been compromised and more than 40 unauthorized transactions were made in Maricopa County.
The charges totaled more than $10,000, according to authorities
You would assume he he used it online, could you imagine handing the card over in a store? "
Clerk - "Are you Brett Favre?"
Imposter - "Duh?"
Clerk - "Well you certainly sound like him"

Re: Favre victim of stolen identity
Favre called up his credit card company and tried to get them to take $10,000 and 26 INTs off his credit report.

Thief leaves trail of beer and pizza to Favre's credit card
By Andy Nelesen
Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers
GREEN BAY  The sky was the limit for the man suspected of stealing Brett Favre's credit card information.
Exotic vacations, expensive jewelry, exceptional services  all were in the grasp of the man with access to the credit line of one of the highest-paid NFL quarterbacks.
But it wasn't a trip to Tahiti or a Rolodex that led police to the Arizona man charged with stealing Favre's information.
It was beer and pizza.
William Joachim was arrested and jailed in Phoenix and made an initial appearance in Maricopa County Superior Court late Thursday.
Joachim is charged with theft, fraud schemes, identity theft and misconduct involving weapons, all felonies.
Green Bay Packers security chief Jerry Parins said it still is unclear how Joachim ended up with the three-time NFL MVP's information, but it was purchases of beer and pizza  30 or 40 times  that first drew Favre's scrutiny.
Parins said Favre's agent, Bus Cook, spoke to the team's security staff about the suspicious charges. Parins' people got in touch with folks from the league in Green Bay, who called their counterparts in Arizona.
League officials in Phoenix, where the purchases had occurred, reported them to local authorities.
Investigators think Joachim used Favre's credit card information more than 40 times throughout the Phoenix area, running up transactions totaling more than $10,000. The fraudulent transactions came to light last month, Arizona authorities said.
Maybe he was a packer fan, watching them this year would turn you to drink.
