Put the young right side, with MJ and Rk, to the test.
I would like to see Hicks sit if MJ can play the position near the same level, and of course if he can do it better.
This way we know what we will go after in next year's FA and draft.
It might be a make shift season on the right side.
    There are many possibilities.
    Whose Rk??
    :-\
    Rye-un Koch.
    FA signee from Israel.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

I am pretty sure the Zeus is pulling your chain on that guy.
I am cetain that the vikes will pick up 1 to 2 more lineman before the season starts for some depth on the line.
I hope that a team releases someone really good for the right side.
That would make the offseason complete after a great draft.

I believe he meant Ryan Cook.

Unless R.K. is trying out this year.
Yeah I thought I would just be a walk on this year.

Well Rosie just got canned from the View, so the way I see it, we could sign her up to play a little guard.

Wait, she's more of a cancer than T.O. Let the Pack have her.

    Analyze the data my friends.
    ;D

The organization will go with what they have.
Add to the future through undrafted FA talent (some good prospects on paper in there) and if and only if, a young OL that fits the ZB scheme falls off a roster will they pick him up.

No roster spots to old guys with bad backs, knees and shoulders....that want lots of bucks.

What part of you don't go into a season without so much as a back up don't you understand?

I also don't think you wait, HOPING a OL man gets cut.

There is no backup for McKinnie & if they move Johnson to guard, there is no back up for Cook. And that's saying they can successfully move him from his normal center position to tackle.

Who is going to back up McKinnie? Tell me.

Unless that lone UDFA OL man they picked up pans out.

    Great questions.....
Probaboy the same plan they used last year.
Might increase from 8 to 9 or 10 OL this year, but I don't know yet.
    Time will tell.

    Roster last year:

    Matt Birk C

    Ryan Cook C

    Cullen Loeffler C

    Marcus Johnson OT

    Bryant McKinnie OT

    Anthony Herrera OG

    Artis Hicks OG

    Steve Hutchinson OG

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/teams/roster?team=min

My assumption is (if they increase number of OL on roster) they will pick from the following:

    Dan Mozes
    Katnik
    Daniels
    Day
    Johnson

Possibly more to follow to choose from........

Seems to me they have a few to choose from.

Now if you are taking the tact that we need to get rid of a few that were on the team last year because of performance, then probably a vet should be added.

I for one am not of the ilk.
I think we are set with starters.
We will add 1 or 2 for depth/future and go from there.

Could be a slight difference of opnion here I assume
    ;D

    Ya, I meant RC.

I definitely didn't mean RK, he is not young talent.

Thet signed Herrera again this year. He has a bit of bulldog in his play and may be the right guard we need!
But he wasn't even activated last season.
    ???

I watched Cook closely last season and he made some rookie mistakes. But I think he will develop into a pretty good right tackle over time.

I have no faith in Hicks and even less in Johnson becoming a guard.

I hope I'm wrong but it sounds like wishful thinking.

Has any Viking coach said anything about Johnson becoming a guard?

If the right side of the line can pass block this year, this could be a pretty darn good team.

What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
