Well then Z, what WRs do we suggest we get. Which FAs out there fit our system?
It's a horrible year to need FA WRs, that's for sure.
Drew Bennett isn't a bad choice - good hands, good route runner - but I think in the weak field, he'll cost too much.

I don't have the answer, I'll admit that.
I just know that a Big Name WR who is on the block is going to be one who is a problem, since no one would get rid of a Big Name WR who was a stand-out performer and a locker-room hero (ie. Steve Smith).

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Well if there isn't much in the way of FA WR's, do you guys think a trade for veteran help would be in order, and if so who do you look to give up, and for who?

Good wide receivers that are also good people are so hard to come by that anyone that gets one (Harrison, Fitzgerald, Smith, etc.) hangs out for dear life. So if you're looking for a WR you have three options: 1) The Draft, 2) Free agency for a middle of the road receiver or 3) Trade for a problem child (Moss, Porter, TO).

trade for porter..hopefully draft jarrett (no way johnson could still be there at 7)..sign drew bennett or else tony gonzalez, and that would be good for pass catchers..we still got williamson, and can bring back somebody like mcmullen for cheap
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

I agree with you on that he could become too expensive. Every team that needs a WR is saying, hey lets get Drew Bennett, because he is the most proven WR in the market.

But just to go over it again, I believe the others worth a look could be Kevin Curtis, Rams, and DJ Hackett, Seahawks.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

what's the lowdown on bobby engram? aside from that i like hackett or andre davis, but really we need more in the number one mould. i'd give my left nut for fitzgerald jnr but i ain't holding high hopes. i'd almost concede to resigning moss, but would he actually get the ball in this system???

Agree with you on "Thin" Z.

Although it is only rumor now, I am hoping that Richardson can help out with convincing his buddy Gonzo to move from KC to MN.
He could help stretch the field a bit and take the load off of a bunch of number 2 and 3 recievers.

We have the cap room to make a run at him.
Not sure if all the bad press over the WCO version that Childress was trying this year will be attractive to him.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

    Re: Wr Status

I really don't think that we are going to go after Porter, much less trade for him as he was a problem for Oakland.
If character is a main focal point for Childress, then his character is a huge question mark, and if you hold him to his word, then Porter is out of it.

    Re: Wr Status

I really think that Childress will go after Bennet. He already showed last year that he will go after people in free agency. Although he also said he wanted to build the team through the draft, so I doubt we will leave the first round without a WR.
