Wistrom available as a free agent. What do you think?

This may be old news as I have been traveling all week, but I didnt see it looking over old threads here in FA forum.

I just saw that the Seahawks have cut DE - Grant Wistrom today.
Is this just a financial thing, or will he be available as a free agent?
If so what does everyone think of him.
I dont know alot about him, I remember him signing a big contract a few years ago, but dont know if anyone thinks this might be a potential fit since everyone seems to think we could use some help at DE.

Maybe it is time to use up some of that record cap space?

He's getting up there in years, but he's still really good. Strong motor & a good leader. They may have released him to make room for Kerney's addition. Or they may try to re-sign him at a lower price.

Yeah, I think it definitely had something to do with Kerney's addition, I just dont know if it was a cut and resign agreement they had with him for money reasons, or if he will hit the open FA market.
I would love to see it so that we dont feel obligated to draft DE with the 7th pick.
I hope we fill DE in FA and do everything we can to trade up for CJ in the draft.

I'd take him if he's willing to play for around a mill a year...maybe some sort of nice sack incentive contract

If the price is low, I would say yes.

He could definitely ease the pressure to draft a DE at #7...and free the Vikes up to make a blockbuster deal to move up to get CJ.
BUT do the Vikings have the balls to do that?

Didnt he once kill (or nearly kill) someone in a drunk driving accident so hes a no. Free agents arnt resigned for a reason and that reason is reason enough for childress not to look at them. reason.
