The draft value charts seem a bit out of whack to me.OK, I did a little calculating.
The value chart seems askew to me.
I don't know how anyone could trade down without taking a loss somewhere because I don't see teams giving up 3 picks to compensate for top pick.
Detroit #2 pick = 2600
Vikes #7 pick = 1600
Difference is 1000
I don't know how anyone can compensate them for that difference at 15 + spots in the draft.
We would have to give them our 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks and that wouldn't even total 2600.
Those 3 picks only total 2360, which is not equal to 2600.
I think if you trade down, you will have to take less value, but you get out of the top dollar contract if you get yourself out of the top 10 picks.
Unfortunately they seem to be used a lot and set imaginary values on draft position.
Each year the depth of the draft is different, but the value charts assume you're going to have a handful of players that are head and shoulders above the rest, another handful that are all that and a bag of chips and so on.
According to this chart, the number #1 pick has 3000 value points, which equates to about 1/2 of the 3rd round picks.
(16) 3rd players has the same value as the top pick.
All this to say, I wouldn't give up the picks it would take to move up (#7 to #2) according to this chart.
However, it would be very intriguing to have CJ on this team and see how it effects the KAO and future personnel signings.

Bobby Wade was the only WR added thus far.
No other WRs that were brought in were signed.
A TE was added.
Another TE visited, but didn't sign.
A LB was added.
a DT was brought in for a visit.
There is a lot of salary cap space available.
And no one in Winter Park seems upset, anxious, nervous,
worried, or disappointed with free agent acquisitions thus far.
They spoke with Quinn, but say TJackson and Bollinger will compete for starting QB.
So, what could be their plan to get a WR(s) better than Wade?
Hmmmmm.
Childress calls a press conference: Guys I'm really nervouse about our WR situation just thought you should know.
To play along however if I had to guess, I would say since the draft this year is so deep at WR they plan on landing some solid picks that are possibly improvements over what we have currently.
That must mean they also hide their intentions well.
Has anyone in the Pentagon of the Powerful People said they want to pick CJohnson?
If so, why not?
What about Landry?
Quinn?
Hmmmm.

Exactly, it would be another Hershel Walker deal and I'd blow my face off!I watched the Vikings hand the Cowboys a few championships over a guy they thought was talented enough to fix all our problems, not again. I don't call it passive I call it smart.
I have a feeling you put a guy in a dysfunctional situation you aren't going to be happy with the results. Our problems are bigger then one player. I say the more draft picks the better.

I think he has hired Bus Cook. The same agent Moss has.Does anybody know who CJ's agent is?
Will he have a long holdout?
It were mentioned along with the discussions of a possible Packer-Raider trade involving Moss.
Whether that will have any influence on holdout, one way or the other, I don't know.
Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Cook represents Moss, Farve, and CJ.
It would have made the Farve to GB trade pretty interesting...
Favre is represented by Bus Cook.
Cook also is involved in the representation of Moss, and the Moss transaction depends in large part on Moss and his agents working out a restructured contract with the Packers.
So if that gets done, then Johnson is poised to be the first guy off of the board.
His agent?

Did we know anything about Wade before we brought him in, for that matter, I don't think any of the 3 registered on any media clip until after they were here.
Point being, I don't think they are letting anything out of the bag that they don't want out.
To me that is a good thing.
I shudder to think back to the last coach who even told us who he wanted to draft prior to the draft.
Pretty silly in my book. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: The Window for Calvin Johnson has been opened
This proverbial window for obtaining CJohnson is just a way for Detroit to avoid taking CJohnson.
They avoid the controversy that would occur with their fans who are divided about taking another WR when they had mixed results, mostly negative, over the last few years drafts.
Trading out of the #2 slot allows Detroit to avoid the decision of whether to draft CJohnson or not.... if they consumate the trade before draft day.
At this point, no one knows if CJohnson will be selected by Oafland.
So, no one can say Detroit had a chance to draft CJ if they trade down before the clock starts for Oafland.
To those who argue for taking CJ, they can argue that they thought Oafland would take CJ. To those who didn't want CJ, they have done nothing wrong by trading out of #2.
When we stop to think about it, most folks behavior isn't perplexing after all !
