If he is going to stick with the plan then Childress willl be around for the next 2 or 3 years to execute it no matter what happens with our record.
Fan reaction to Wilf's comments on rebuilding was swift, as seen in this picture of a long-time PPO.org poster, who is ranting while also trashing an unfamiliar section of downtown Minneapolis....

Bad news for the people who want us to magically become superbowl contenders within a year.
patience is only for kung-foo masters and teachers...not for football fans!
we wouldn't be rebuilding if the proper piecs were placed the last two years...
hmmm--think about it.
*Sarcastic comment on*
Wow, a change from the norm, man that can't be?
I thought as a viking fan I was supose to like going 9-7 or 10-6 every year to only be bounced from the playoffs early.
God knows our banners are filled with championships, I don't know about you guys, but packer fans never remind me of this fact.
Sarscastic comment off*
Seriously guys, we don't like to hear it, but its time for change.
The old way wasn't working and its time to look at other alternatives.
Only a fool continues to try and succeed where past failure as been the result.
The same could be said about our football team.
I'm willing to wait three years if it means championship level play.

I agree to some extent, but two years ago we would have been looking for a different type of player to play Tices system, which is quite a bit different then Childress's.Quote:

I don't like to think it, but is it possible we are headed for a drought?
Bengals no playoffs 1991-2004
Peckers no playoffs 1973-1981, 1983-1992
Steelers no playoffs 1948-1971
Patsies no playoffs 1987-1993
These are just a few and I hope I'm wrong.
What I expect from an NFL team to make it:
1- Go after KEY free agents when available......
2- DO NOT let go of players on our roster that help make our team better.....
3- BE AGGRESSIVE during the NFL draft. This includes trading up and drafting players that are impact players.....
4- DO NOT train people to win championships and then send them off to another team....
Also, why do we have 22 coaches? The most in the league? That boggles my mind. What are they coaching? Why do we need so many? And do we need someone to come in for the draft? How much intellegence does it take? The first couple rounds are usually a given. After that its all hit or miss anyway.
Just wanted to share my opinion. I have not seen the Vikings do much in the past couple years. Not even talking about our record. I am talking about forward momentum in general. Are they telling us that our draft is going to make our future team? If so, why? Why dont we make a few moves in offseason? Because of cheap owners! Now he is going to the rest of the league for money? Give me a break. Spend the money you have in the first place!
Just a few random thoughts from the brain!. :)

It wasn't too long ago, when we were in the Red Era, that we didn't have enough coaches and we didn't have adequate facilities to practice and teach in.
Tice had the least amount of coaches, Wilf comes in and hires more.
Tice paid for carpeting for the training facility out of his own pocket because Red was too cheap.
The owners are compensating Wilf and the Vikings because of the crappy deal they have in the dome.
It puts Wilf's group of owners at a disadvantage financially.
I think there was more positive to the statement than the article went into.
It definitely is a statement of the Vikings status and needs for a new stadium.
Wilf says in the article, that he didn't want to be subsidized by the other owners.
He doesn't want to be a charity case.
