Why do I get the feeling Childress is not big on rooks?
Maybe it's just me, and I can't come up with any exact examples, but I have a feeling that Childress would rather use an experienced guy (no matter what the talent level) as against using a rookie. Last year I recall thinking "put in the rookie," after watching some of his retreads not getting the job done time after time. I don't really want to start a "BASH BRAD" again, but does anyone else get the same feeling? With all the promising rookies that we drafted, I hope they at least get the chance to play!

I don't know.
Feeling is that they will build the team through the draft vice going after a bunch of aging, costly FA's.
With that said, I think somehow that equates to young guys playing.
Possibly rooks. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I think it's related to the same feeling you get after you take a piss and forget to shake before re-inserting.

I think that his record from last year shows that if you can play as a rookie, you can play under Childress. Point in fact: Griffin, Cook, TJack.
However Childress also knows, and points out, that most rookies has a lot to learn in their first season about the speed of the game in the NFL. More so in the first half of the season.
Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Other than the Brad Johnson disaster, he played many rookies throughout the year. I highly doubt he is going to sit Peterson if he is healthy. Same with McCauley and Rice. Plus QB is a lot tougher to learn to play in the NFL than RB.

I agree.....Childress started every rookie last year at least one game, except of coures Greenway. I think that Childress realizes when a rookie is ready to start. The NFL is allot different then NCAA, no matter how good a college player looks.
Thanks Josdin00 for the sig!

Re: Why do I get the feeling Childress is not big on rooks?
I think he was only concerned about T-Jack and
a lot of people wouldnt put a rookie qb
into the game.Other than TJack I recall Greg blue gettin the start on opening day,Griffin taking over for smoot, cook getting some time,Ray edwards even played enough to get 4 sacks.Jason carter didnt play but we had 3 veteran recievers at the time and carter was an undrafted FA so that was understandable.Peterson will play on day 1 and thats a garantee.Remember what childress said after they drafted him? Something along the lines of "we didnt draft him this high so he can sit on the bench".I dont know abouy the seventh round picks but i think everybody up to rufius alexander will get some playing time

Gotta agree with the common sentiment here, that while Childress might not laud his rookies or provide glowing comments about them, he is prepared to trust them when he thinks they're ready.
I'm looking forward to the same attitude being applied to the players this year.
