Alright, assuming that everything you say is true, what would you have us do at this point?

Daunte was looking for "the love" when he asked for more money...and didn't get it.

Daunte was looking for "the love" when he asked if he'd been shoped...and didn't get it.

So, feeling "unloved", he threw a hissy and alerted the MEDIA that he wants out of Minnesota....

    ..what a classy move.

What should we do now? Sit down with him and say, "Oh Daunte, we're SOOOOO sorry we hurt your feelings. Of COURSE we love you. Here, how about we make a 12 million dollar signing bonus. And, just as soon as you're ready, we'll run that wicked conniving Brad Johnson out of town on a rail. Everyone knows he only won those 7 games because of the Defense. Oh...wait....I think there's a spot on your buttocks that we didn't kiss...bend over again, will ya?"

    Nope.

Every criticism of Daunte that has been flooding out of late is valid. The biggest reason that we didn't harp on it previously is that he was a Viking...and we do tend to forgive a lot from "Our guys".

Face it, Daunte had an up-n-down career here. He started well, got stronger, then tanked. Rebounded, had one PHENOMINAL year, then tanked again...hard. He has the highest fumble ratio of any QB...EVER. Can't run a 2-minute drill at gun point. Crumbles under pressure. And, worst, can't read Defenses.

This is "one of the greatest players Minnesota has ever seen"? I don't know if I'd go that far. In all my years I've seen a lot of GREAT players. I will say that Daunte had the POTENTIAL to be one of the greatest...but he always seemed to fall on his face when it came to crunch time.

So, sorry if I disagree with you...but I do. That doesn't mean I'm lapping up every little dribble that the "New" regime is spilling...it simply means that when I look at this situation for what it is - the end result of a prima-donna's temper tantrum gone bad - I am THRILLED that we are cutting him loose rather than risking a T-Hoe repeat on OUR team.

HE threw the gauntlet...he shouldn't be suprised that Zygi picked it up.

That was absolutely a piece of rare art, Caine. I could not have said it better.
Oh, yea. Get a Brees jersey.

Caine, you shouldve added everything he did as the so-called "leader" of this team..while being "the guy" daunte has forced randy moss out of town, had public sex on a boat then blamed it on two white guys that he claims happened to be there doing the same thing, and he has also secretely attempted on 3 occasions to steal 10 million more dollars from the salary cap of this team, putting us in less of a position to land big name free agents

good bye daunte..when whatever team you get traded to has a star player that steals your spotlight, may you force management to trade them..when you sit out half of your worst season ever with a horrendous career ending caliber injury, may you ask to be paid more..when you go to a social gathering with your teammates, may you ask a stripper for an awesome BJ right there in front of everyone, and then blame the ugly white guy in the corner..daunte, may you stand around looking completely lost and clueless when you realize that you will have to use your brain when determining how to beat a defense that has not placed 4 guys on your star receiver..good luck daunte, i realize that you did do some good things here, but when it all comes down to it, i am truely hurt by the way you behaved off of the field, and by the way you performed on the field last year..but thanks for all the cap space when you forced moss out, that was nice of you!
    Once again, link please.
okay i apologize for not knowing exactly what sexual act took place..i should change it to "may you engage in a sexual activity with a stripper while intoxicated on a boat, which is considered a public place..after this takes place you shall inform the authorities that it was unjust for them to falsely accuse them of the crime that was also commited by two caucasian gentlemen that were also attending the night's festivities"..politically correct enough for you yet?

I'm against all of this f--- this bull----! I will really miss daunte if he goes. I'd rather have Culpepper than Childress.
id rather have a QB that wants to play here..be mad at daunte, the guy doesnt want to be here..blame management and childress all you want to, but it all boils down to daunte not wanting to play here in minnesota..the guy is an idiot in my opinion..he lobbies to have randy traded, and then asks to get himself out the next year..IDIOT in my opinion..i liked him as a player, but i did not like him as the face of this franchise..he disgraced this team, and was a huge part of the boat scandal..id rather go on knowing that whoever ends up playing for us will actually value putting on a vikings jersey, other than daunte who thought it was a fun game

and when daunte sits out half the season, or else stinks it up, are you going to come onto this site and tell us that you need help removing your foot from your mouth?..your comments are a little off, because alot of people on this site arent necessarely wanting johnson to be the guy on this team like you say..ppl on this site want to draft a new QB to be the guy here, or else get someone in free agency..i want daunte gone as long as he has no intention on being here (oh wait, that was in the papers and you dont read the "bad" stuff)..you are obsessed with culpepper to the point where you suddenly think that daunte deserves to be mentioned along with guys like tarkenton, page, eller, etc..not even close!..get over it! the guy really got us nowhere! to say hes one of the best weve seen is absolutely rediculous..HE DOESNT WANT TO BE HERE SO WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO SAY AS MUCH BAD STUFF ABOUT HIM AS WE WANT TO..you do not realize that we are going to have to listen to daunte bash the vikings organization all year long in the media..and from what you have said, you seem like you will support that..if you are a true vikings fan, you would side with the fact that the guy hates our franchise and doesnt want to be a part of it..to heck with him, i hope he plays terrible wherever he goes, and makes this move look good..and by the way you said "rookie leadership"..you have no class if you object to the way wilf is handling things in minnesota..he has handled everything with the utmost of class, and daunte is somebody who abused the privelages he was given by mr wilf..zygi did everything to pay him some more last summer, and allowed daunte to use his private jets, and so on and so forth..so what does daunte do? takes a big dump on the franchise, and spits in the owners face..its one thing to be moe williams and fred smoot on a boat having a sex party (not with each other i hope), but its a totally different thing to force randy moss out of town, and then do something so incredibly stupid that even randy couldnt do..we expected so much more out of daunte as our leader and face, but he came up short..kind of like the 41-0 loss in new york, the stuff minnesota sports legends are made of according to you

good bye Daunte and great career here in minnesota...thanks for all the turnovers, boat partying and the great things you didnt do...thanks for getting the great Randy traded...bye bye ...jerk
randy got traded because he had a beef with red. and i suppose we can just forget all of the great things daunte did. its rediculous how quickly so many people turned on him. come on people, dont let the media dictate how you feel.
so just because we dont all share your opinion, its the fact that we believe what the media says? so when daunte spends the entire season bashing us, you are going to ignore it? we are all capable of forming our own opinions, and because they are different from yours, it does not make us single minded..daunte did a few things, but nothing "great"..he had one of the best seasons in history, just to get to the playoffs and put up an under average performance against the eagles..this whole team didnt play well, but thats where your star players need to step up, and daunte didnt try to carry the load in any way..everybody on this website (including me) bashes brett favre all the time, but at least he carried his team much further than daunte ever did..brett crumbled under pressure a couple years ago against the eagles, but at least has a couple superbowls in the past for people to excuse him for it..where are daunte's rings? oh wait, he never played well enough under pressure in the playoffs to get any..i didnt have to read a single newspaper or internet article to come to that conclusion..as for randy's beef with red..yes there was a rift, but you heard it word for word from daunte's mouth when he said "enough is enough" when talking about randy moss's actions..and then daunte turns around and gets drunk on a boat and has a sex party!..randy doesnt seem like such a bad guy to have around now does he?..moss said he was betrayed by culpepper, and i take his side on the issue..im not saying that trading him was a horrible thing, but it was a cowardly act on behalf of daunte
