    Excellent observations my friend.

I would however, not give up the ship on ole Shanc just yet.
As with almost all the players who touched the ball, at one time or another last night, fumbles, bobbles and drops seemed to happend to all especially when being hit (as with Shanc).

A bit more hitting in camp will help them to get back into the swing of things with respect to ball protection after the catch/during the run.
    ;D

Tarvaris Jackson - The Vikings came out throwing and Jackson connected on 8 of his 11 passes for 118 yards in just over a quarter of work. His lone TD was a play action dump off to Thomas Tapeh and he would've had another one if Bernard Berrian wouldn't have slipped just before reaching the end-zone.
That Bernard Berrian Catch allowed for Thomas Tapeh's Touchdown. So it would have been either/or, not both

    Re: Who's Hot, Who's Not - Pre-Season Week 1

    My Version:

    Who's Hot:
    TJ:
    Looked good on his reads.
Showed some better pocket presense, and put some zip on his passes.
His longish one to Berrian wasn't great, because it was thrown behind, and if he had hit him in stride, it could have gotten another 10 YAC on it.

    Allison:
    caught some passes in coverage.
Looked real good, and hopefully he can become a legit force for our offense

    Pass Protection:
Saw some good pass blocking out of everyone.
I don't TJ got sacked at all, but that also hass to do with his improved decision making.

    Kluwe:
real cannons coming off his foot.
first one was 56, another was 57.
Hopefully we won't need to call him on much this year though.

    Erin Henderson:
    Was all over the field.
    4 tackles, 1 assist.
#2 on our team in tackles so far.

    Who's Not:
    1st team defense:
    Hardly any pressure.
Allen had 2 near sacks, but that was it from everyone.
Has to do with Pat missing i'm sure.
    Also pass coverage was bad.
    BUT!
Childress himself said they were playing mostly zone, real vanilla playcalling.
    so i'll reserve judgement.
However, their run stopping in inexcusable.
Really, the only guy missing is Pat Williams, and they were letting Mo MOrris have a 10 .3 ypc average.
    Not good

    Run Blocking:
Not good at all, even for 1st team.
On the goal line stands, they were getting pushed backwards.
Not what you want to see from guys like Birk, McKinney and Hutch

    Martin Nance:
Dropped pass on 3rd down will overshadow whatever else he may have done.

    2nd and 3rd team everything:
Just awful once the starters left.
Nothing worth mentioning really, except I thought Erin Henderson looked good, and was all over the field.

    Albert Young:
As far as I'm concerned, he should go.
Unless he magically learns how to run, and how to hold onto the ball, I can't see him even making practice squad.
3 fumbles is inexcusable, even if it is the 1st preseason game.

    Hot: Leger Douzable.
    I might get his jersey.

I'd really like to see Erin make the team.
Its obvious he's working his butt off.

Douzable was big time last night , good depth for the D - Line , I was excited to see Michael Boulware in purple too , he didn't do much last night but I remember watching him play in Seattle and thinking he was going to be good.

Hot - adding to the current list

Antoine Winfield - He had three tackles for next to no gain, blowing up the screen play, getting in on a running play and a short pass.

Tyrell Johnson - Good tackling, saved a touchdown and almost caused a fumble on a hit.(It was called back)

    Not

Cedric Griffin - He gets burned on the first touchdown of the night, anyone suprised?

With that said, the defense got burned once right away, and then they stopped Seattle on a short field and held them to a field goal.
They will be fine im sure, I remember last year when we got ran against pretty good initially but we tightened it up and were still number one against the run!

Nice first post my friend, however, if they are gonna be fine, why single Griff out for something we saw all the secondary do?

Truth be told, the pressure wasn't there by the DL, we did see the LB'rs in coverage trying to help out, as well as all the CB/S's giving up yards to recievers.

Again, nice first post but why just single out Griff?
Heck, Antoine had to let the guys catch it so that he could tackle them didn't he?
