Thread: Who Do we draft at RB if anyone.

I know many of you feel that we have mor epressing issues but I think RB is still a position that should be addr thru the draft.

We ahve CT
and Ad and recently signed hicks but Hicks is not really rb as much as he is a Return specialist. After all M. Robinson was the 49ers 3rd down back( ex - qb). Personally i see us addressing it in the later end of the draft.

I would like us to addr it in the 5th round with Allen Patrick from OU.

My philosophy is we can buy one if and when we need one.
RBs have been a dime a dozen.


My head hurts from thinking about the Vikings off season so much.
Time for me to take some advil then go and do a search for another mock draft from some obscure web site.

To draft a RB better than Hicks in the later rounds might be difficult to do.
They would be projects at best.

I don't think we'll address RB in the draft this year, we have AD, CT, and Hicks...Depth there would still be nice, but we need to add depth at the spots where we have aging players (Winfield, Sharper, Pat Williams, etc.)
I don't think the position will be addressed anymore this offseason.
We have a young and very good backfield, maybe a late pick since we have so many picks, but I think most of our picks will be used for the spots where we have aging players.
We have a lot of good players getting up there in age...I think we need to address those spots first.

I don't see us picking up a RB.
If we did, we'd most likely cut him and try and sign him to our practice squad, not really worth it.
Especially since we can lose him off of waivers (Thigpen :'( )

We will not draft a RB in the draft!

I can see us picking a 3rd or 4th round running back, seeing as there's so much depth there this year.
Kevin Smith would be nice.

If you include Rb as a FB then I see a possibility,
Unfortunately it may not be Schmidtt form WV but I have been thinking of a Mock and have one that could be a reality. Otherwise in the late rounds possibly if they could also be used as a KR/PR, They would have to have some value besides RB That is if they would carry 4 RB's.
But with Hicks I don't see that happening. But who knows

I think that by signing Hicks we won't draft any RBs. I would have have loved to get Chris Johnson, but thats not going to happen. I think we will make a lot of trades in the draft to get the playes we really need.

If we don't trade all of our picks away I can see them bringing a RB in that was picked in the 5th/6th or 7th round.

The way I look at it is that they evidently think we have an issue at PR duties or they wouldn't have brough Hicks in.
Why not bring a young stud in as well as kindof an insurance policy/possible replacement for CT if he opts out in a year or two.

My choices would be:

a.
Chris Johnson (5th if he makes it that far)
b.
Anthony Aldridge
c.
Rafael Little

I wouldn't expect the Vikings to try to upgrade our most solid position in this years draft. We are young and deep.

We could draft a RB if

A) We plan on trading Chester Taylor

B) We are certain rookie X will be better than Maurice Hicks.

Don't see it happening though.
