Whittle Signed
From the Star/Tribune
Vikings sign offensive lineman Whittle
Judd Zulgad
The Vikings signed free agent offensive lineman Jason Whittle to a one-year contract today, according to his agent, Joe Linta. Linta refused to provide any financial details.
Whittle, who was released by the New York Giants in a salary-cap move last week, has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with the Giants. He can play both guard and center and is expected to compete for a starting spot at guard. “I think it’s a good fit,†Linta said.
Whittle appeared in 14 games last season but did not have any starts for the Giants; he started all 16 games for the Giants the previous year.Kentucky Vikes Fan

Re: Whittle Signed
I don't really have much to say about this pick up.. I don't know about his play enough..
I'll just have to have some trust in our coaches...
One thing though, Childress (having been with the Eagles) got to see this guy play for the Giants twice a year, against his ex-team. Maybe he likes something about Whittle.........

Re: Whittle Signed
It seems like I remember hearing about the Giants shuffling their O-Line all over the place and making changes all the time, but even with that kind of situation, this guy couldn't get a start?

Re: Whittle Signed
HEck any help on the offensive line couldn't hurt. The Vikes need to get some bodies in there incase they don't lure some of the FA they want.

Thanks Lotza!

Any player that is not under contract from a team can be signed as a FA.
All these FA's(edge, SA, witherspoon...) are techincally not FA's until their contracts with their current teams expire. I believe those contracts expire on the day prior to the start of FA. Although I am not really sure how that works this year with the date pushed back 3 days.
