    What happened to this LB????

Why has there been zero hype around Lavar Arrington as of late??? Is he asking for a ton of cash or what? Cause I truly would love to see him in purple.

Re: What happened to this LB????

probably asking for too much cash..he had constant problems with the redskins involving money, so i can imagine that is the case now as well
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

That has been all over the news....to the point that no one pays any attention to it anymore.

Here are a few updates from KFFL:

Packers | Team faces obstacles to signing Arrington - from www.KFFL.com
    Tue, 11 Apr 2006 21:58:06 -0700

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers face a few obstacles if they try to sign free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins). Arrington wants to play for a winner; the Packers were 4-12 last season. Arrington wants to know whether QB Brett Favre is going to retire; the Packers still don't know the quarterback's plans. Arrington wants a big contract; the Packers have plenty of salary cap room but don't think they should have to pay considerably more than what the market bears. At this point a deal with Arrington is not imminent. The interest on both sides does appear legitimate. "There has to be interest from both sides if there's a visit," Arrington's agent, Kevin Poston, said Tuesday, April 11. "There were a number of other teams who were interested in him and he chose not to visit. He's realistic. To him, he's not a guy who believes in wasting his time." During his visit, Arrington asked the Packers if he could talk to Favre, Poston said. Poston said Arrington had not spoken to Favre as of Tuesday afternoon but was still interested in touching base with him.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Miami Dolphins have presented the best offer for free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins), but it's not close to the $54 million he's asking for and that's why his visit with the Green Bay Packers could be interesting.

    Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:03:59 -0700

The Giants never came close to his asking price, at least seven years, $54 million. The Miami Dolphins have the best offer for Arrington, but it's not close to $54 million and that's why the visit with the Green Bay Packers could be interesting.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Green Bay Packers visited with free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) Monday, April 10. Signing Arrington or free agent CB Charles Woodson (Raiders) may be what QB Brett Favre is looking for before he commits to playing the 2006 season. Arrington left without an offer while the Packers decide what to do. Arrington was excited enough about the visit that he wanted to talk to Favre.

Giants | Team and Arrington remain apart on contract - from www.KFFL.com
    Thu, 6 Apr 2006 06:06:11 -0700

Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports the New York Giants and free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) have not been able to reach a contract agreement and money appears to be the key issue. The Giants have real interest in Arrington but have engaged in no real substantive talks with his agents since making an offer three weeks ago. Arrington met the Giant coaching staff but did not take a physical or work out for the team. After the visit, the framework of a contract proposal was presented to Arrington's agents, Carl and Kevin Poston. It was considerably less money than what the Poston's were seeking. The Giants have not announced they have ceased negotiations or taken their offer off the table, but the difference in the contract offered and sought is so great that there is not much to talk about.

    Thu, 23 Mar 2006 16:13:17 -0800

The Associated Press reports agent Carl Poston has sued the NFLPA and is challenging the two-year suspension he was given for the handling of free agent LB LaVar Arrington's (Redskins) contract extension in 2003 with the Washington Redskins. The lawsuit was filed Monday, March 20, in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. The lawsuit claims the disciplinary action was not handled as mandated by the union's rules and was filed beyond the one-year limit set by those rules. Poston argues that either he or his lawyer should have been allowed to appear before the disciplinary committee to contest the accusations and an independent arbitrator should have handled the dispute.

    Thu, 23 Mar 2006 06:24:10 -0800

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins and the agent for free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) haven't talked about a contract since Monday, March 20, and sticker shock may be the reason. Agent Kevin Poston believes the LB Julian Peterson contract with the Seattle Seahawks set the market at the position and he hopes Arrington will get an a similar offer. An NFL source said Wednesday, March 22, that Miami is unlikely to reach that high a price tag to acquire Arrington, thus the lull in talks.

With the Dolphins' interest in Arrington on the rise, they will have to compete with the New York Giants for his services, a source said. The high price tag on Peterson could dictate how much a team likely will have to pay for Arrington, since both clients have the same agent, Kevin Poston.

Giants | More about Arrington - from www.KFFL.com
    Tue, 14 Mar 2006 05:18:34 -0800

Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports there are some interesting theories floating around regarding free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) and the New York Giants. One involves a conflict of sorts between the front office, which is leaning toward trying to sign Arrington, and the coaching staff, which is not sure he will fit in with the defensive scheme. Arrington, who has spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Redskins, is a superb athlete, but tends to freelance on the field and that may have turned off the coaching staff. Arrington also may be at his best playing in a 3-4 defensive scheme, but the Giants are a 4-3 team that relies on the pass-rushing skills of DEs Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. "It doesn't fit," said someone with knowledge of the situation. Another factor is Arrington is seeking a big contract, which would limit how active the Giants can be in free agency.

The New York Daily News reports the New York Giants are one of two favored places for free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) to wind up, with the Miami Dolphins being the other place. The only question is whether they're willing to meet the 27-year-old linebacker's asking price, which could be very high given what's happening on the market. Giants' general manager Ernie Accorsi declined comment on Arrington Sunday, March 12. Agent Carl Poston said he and the Giants hadn't even opened negotiations yet.

Giants | Arrington visit update - from www.KFFL.com
    Sun, 12 Mar 2006 22:26:39 -0800

Mike Garafolo, of the Star-Ledger, reports free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) had several meetings with New York Giants coaches and members of the front office as well as taking a physical. His agent, Carl Poston, said late Sunday afternoon, March 12, that the two sides had yet to begin contract discussions. Poston was waiting to get a full report from Arrington before deciding to talk numbers with the Giants. Poston said eight other teams are interested in Arrington, but Arrington has not scheduled any more visits.

Why would GB spend their money on Arrington when they have Nick Barnett and they are going to draft AJ Hawk, who they are going to spend a lot of money on.

I would not mind getting Arrington at all but 7 years 54 million is a lot, if we could get him for 5 mill a year, done deal.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Re: What happened to this LB????

LaVar's biggest problem is that he is represented by the Poston's who are complete and total idiots. Their 3 top tier free agents this year? Arrington, Charles Woodson and Ty Law. Guess how many of those guys have signed with a team already?

You got it ... goose egg.

I don't know how they keep players; I hosently don't.
