Is the West Coast Offense dead?
Is the West Coast offense dead? It seems the last 3 Super Bowl winners have not run the West coast and still won the big one.
I wonder if Minnesota moving to a true West Coast offense is a bad idea?

Re: Is the West Coast Offense dead?
Things come and go in this league. Like they always say, it's a league of parity. What is the fashion one year will be outdated the next and something else will take it's place. I don't put a whole hell of a lot of stock in the different terminology.

Re: Is the West Coast Offense dead?
Childress won't run a true West Coast Offense anyway...he will run a variation that is centered around a bigger OL...and one that probably is much more balanced run versus pass!
He will be successful if he can put together a good OL and find an RB that can move the chains...plus get his QB (whether it is Pep or BJ) to run it efficiently!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

The system doesn't matter. It's how you execute the system that matters.

Isn't Childress pretty bad with the run? Weren't they ranked 32nd in Philly?

Re: Is the West Coast Offense dead?
sure a lot of teams that win the superbowl don't run a west coast offense but they tend to rely on their running game and they throw mostly short passes.
far as im concerned all we need to do is throw short passes to get first downs eat up the clock take our time down the field and make their defense do as many plays during the game as possible and weaken them down. the bombs are fun to watch but i see too many missed passes and too many dropped passes and so on so throwing bombs all the time i think is mostly a waste of a down.I don t buy Wisconsin cheese.

West Coast, East Coast, North and South...
I don't care what kind of Offense you run, if you have a solid O line, Solid running game, Solid Recieving Corps, and a Smart Quarterback. You have what it takes to win games....At least half of it...
The other two thirds are a Solid D and Solid Speical Teams.....
The only other ingrediant I would add is, Solid and Smart Coaches.....
To me, this is what wins games and Championships......

Re: Is the West Coast Offense dead?
The WCO can be successful if run properly. However, by no means is it the only way to run an offense. The fact that some championship teams run different systems does not discredit it.

correct. it doesnt matter the players either. as long as they get done what the coach tells them to do. a good coach can use his system, whatever it is, and win with any players he is givenThe system doesn't matter. It's how you execute the system that matters. We're bringing purple back.
