Because his footwork needs to be broken down and redeveloped.
Locker? Who has run a Pro offense for 1 year and looked bad doing so.
The kid is fast, with an elite build for a Qb, a Great Arm and above average accuracy. Again, he was playing a very good Ducks team and still have a decent game, while all the other Qbs that you might rank above him were home watching.

Not like he was facing the effin Gophs and sucked
Im not understanding the hate.. He isnt going to be the first overall pick.. He wasn't supposed to be the elite prospect coming out and absolutely murder anyone in his way
Re: Wasn't impressed by Newton in BCS Title game
Typical "athletic ,mobile" QB. He had to have x rays today because instead of standing in the pocket and running an offense he is a running back that passes once in a while and the beating he takes will keep him from being a long term nfl qb.

1. Ya he got hurt.. That is a risk of a mobile QB.. Heard it ALL year with Vick
2. He is actually very good at passing.. Not a "RB that passes sometimes" He just happens to have athletic ability both running AND passing.. And his mechanics are horrible like Tebow coming out
3. No saying if he develops his pocket passing skills.. What he did at AUBURN WORKED.. If the team that decides to draft him wants to hone his skills at becoming more of a pocket passer I think he can be more like the Aaron Rodgers mold..

You can't say he is good at passing and then say his mechanics suck. There are bazillions of QBs that can pass in college that never see the light of day in the pros and that is because it is more mental than physical.
I love him as a college player. he is exciting and he has the whole university eating out of his hands. He has electrified the entire campus and that is rare.
But in the pros you need to be able to stand in the pocket and stay healthy..this I see as a oroblem for him and unless chilly drsfts him he wont get 5 years to develop.

He will need to learn a pro style offense but you can't really say for sure how long it'll take him to pick up. Bradford played pretty well after coming from a spread system in college that didn't ask him to make very many reads and he looks well on his way already to a good career.

Re: Wasn't impressed by Newton in BCS Title game
As an avid Auburn fan, I would love for Cam Newton to be in purple and gold next year, in fact - I'm hoping for it!
He did, however, dissapoint in the BCS championship game. If that is the only time you've seen him, you really haven't been able to appreciate how good of a QB he is. He can put the ball anywhere, anytime, but he obviously didn't show this during the game.
However, he did make some big throws and put 200+ yards on the #2 team in the nation...

You either have short memory or are just lying. White never threw even close to what Newton has done. Hell, White never broke 1,900 yards passing in a season and his passing efficiency rating never broke 159.7. Pat White also never has as many yards rushing. White never won a national championship either.
He is also six inches shorter and 50 pounds lighter.
In short ... Comparing Pat White to Cam Newton is an absolute joke.

White didn't throw as much with Rich Rodrigez coaching. He also had Steve Slaton in the backfield as well as Owen Schmidt who also got carries.
Still both guys are run first, pass second, quarterbacks. Just because Newton has a stronger arm and more size doesn't matter much because in the NFL Newton will get crushed trying to run the way he does. Just ask Vick.
