why are some people all up brohms anus lately on this site?

can someone explain to me why he is worth the 17th overall pick?
Because he probably has the best chance to be the potential franchise QB that we might need if TJack fails.

No where near as good as Brohm.
Does anybody remember a time when Brohm was seen as a top 5 pick last season as a junior.
And, he had a better season as a senior.
I think he is BPA at 17 and the only other person i might consider taking would be Sweed.

it would be dumb to take a qb at 17 when its a reach
and do u wanna put tjack under pressure by having a 1st round pick right on his tail? i dont think so
take one in the 2nd/ 3rd, there will still be quality there

A little piece of my soul dies every time someone has us taking Brohm at 17.

It is not much of a reach if at all for somebody that could help turn a franchise like our around.
These are some of the sites that have Brohm going 17th or sooner:

    http://www.drafttek.com/round12008.html
    http://nfldraftguys.com/features/08_...aca_080317.php
    ttp://www.footballsfuture.com/2008/nflmockdraft.html
    http://www.newerascouting.com/home/2...nd-mock-draft/
    http://www.football.com/nflheadlines...ock_draft.html

There are a lot of other sites that do have them going lower, but these are all quality PROFESSIONAL sites that have him up there.
So the opinion on Brohm is quite divided, as it usually is on QB talent in every draft.
To say that he is a reach at the 17th pick is very subjective.
What we know for sure is that he will be gone by our pick in round two, so if our staff thinks he has a good value at 17, then I say we pull the trigger on him.
Of course a lot of us seem to think that we have our wagon hitched to TJack for the long haul, but we all know that football is about competition, and Chilly needs some at the QB position.

but why waste our 1st on a qb, when we can get the same talent(i believe) in the 2nd round on flacco or henne
what are you gonna do about the DE/OT spot then if we go qb 1st round?

OT is only an urgent need if we are planning on getting McKinnie out of here.
If he is out for 4 games, I think we will be fine a tackle.
I do still want to draft for depth/possible replacement this year and we could get Nicks, Cherilus, or Baker in the second.
There are some intriguing picks like Jeremy Zuttah that could be there even later.
No guarantee on who is going to be there though.
As far a DE, we can get Brian Johnston in the later rounds as he is ideal for a LDE in a cover 2 system, e.g. big and fast.
Like any draft, you never know if somebody you think will be available in a certain slot will indeed be there.
That's why its so darn fun to talk about it when the season is over.
