Yes - but the three times on the first drive (most spectacularly during the Ray Rice run) that Sharper didn't maintain his gap or contain were not beautiful.

    =Z=
Lets just put Framton as the starter, then we wouldn't have to worry about Sharpers obviously innate safety play. :

Are you referring to the times they had him on the line blitzing?

Re: Vikings vs. Ravens game thread

I will give another recap after I watch the re-air on TV, however.....

    Defense
    a.
It was obvious that the D wanted to put pressure on Troy early on, however, that backfired when Sharp was blocked/missed his assignment and the WR kept Whinny from getting to the back quick enough.
I am still not worried as of yet as I don't think you will see that kindof front on a consistent basis during the year.
    b.
JA seems to over run the play at times.
Again, probably by design of the plays being called.
He should have had 3 sacks by the way. The muffed sack left us all groaning.
    ;D
    c.
Otis did a fine job when the starters were out.
He probably didn't get his name called much by the announcers but he was in on every play and actually forced the ball carrier and QB's to the inside on several occasions.
    d.
    Sharps INT.
    Who/which CB tipped it?
    I couldn't see the number.
Great coverage by whatever CB did it.
Heads up play by Sharp for catching the tip.

Overall the D seemed to hold thier lanes and play within the scheme.
Didn't seem to rattle Troy as much as I thought they would/were trying to.

    Offense
    a. TJ, you have to get down my friend.

    b. Nice catch by Shanc.
Ball appeared to be behind him.
Actually all the recievers did a good job of bringing the ball in.

    c. OL looked alot better.
Birk did let a little pressure up the middle at times but overall he held his own.

    Backups that stood out.
(Probably cause I was really focused on them.
    ;D)

    a.
    Otis.
Again, I can't say enough about how well that cat played.

    b.
Houska (sp) seems to kick the ball well.
Gets it deep on KO's with decent hang time.
Also, I think he kicked a 47 yarder (or so).
    c.
Don't remember which plays but Chase had two damn nice seals to spring the RB.

    Coaching.
    I love the game plan.
Sure wish the could have executed defense on the first series a bit better but the game was not as close as the score shows.
Still gotta check but I bet we had a nice edge on TOP because of the way the staff worked the clock according to the situation.

I really watched the Chiller close.
    That guy works the sidelines.
He was in the poor refs ear all night long.
We need to get someone at NFLN to miche him up once.

Again, I will probably change my mind a bit after I re-watch the game on TV.
Always fun to watch the game live as you can see things happening away from the ball that the limited camera angles don't show.

By the way, OTIS OTIS OTIS has officially replaced Griff and Herrera on my man love meter.
    ;D

    Otis was a BEAST!
Loved the hits on the QB, no question about it.

TOP was about 37 minutes for the Vikes if I remember right, pretty solid.

I loved watching Chilly on that punt that went out of bounds... calling the ref farther and farther up the sidelines LOL.
The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

It was fun to watch the game with you, KK and CJ.
Lots of good discussions during the game.
Thanks for telling me who everyone was.

    Thoughts on the game...
    QB:
TJ - wow, keep it up and protect yourself a bit; man he looks a lot better this year.
Gus - that was why we signed him
Brooks: Ugh... coach's favorite or something; why is he still on the team
Booty: Rookie and the line sucked for him... what do you expect

    RB:
CT/AD - underwhelming games but why push it; we know what they're capable of.
3rd stringer (got from SF) did okay again.. can't think of his name; he has nice footwork.
The other guy who had fumblitis last week had a solid game as well.

    WR:

Rice: I get more excited ever game this kid plays; he could be something special.
    Wade:
Blue-collar guy who gets the job done
Nance: Hadn't been a fan but, hell of a game.... he could crack the line up.
Allison: Mayock has a man-crush on him, hope it's for a good reason.
    J.J.:
Didn't see enough of him, but the punt returns were good.. that nice one WAS him right?

    OL:
    Solid play from the starters!
B-Mac may be learning something from JA.
Hutch is hutch, Birk is impressing me so far.
Herrera did well, and Cook did well outside of hearing his name once... no bad for our "weak link".

    DL:
JA showed why he got paid, lets just hope he makes that 3rd sack - he had it and his miss cost a huge play.
The Williams Wall did well; gap control was better this week, though not perfect.
Edwards should continue to thrive with our line.

    LB:
Unfortunately I saw Greenway miss a few assignments, poor cap control from the middle three on occasion.
However, I tink that one thing we can say is that we used very limited defensive schemes; I think we may had very poor calls which led to the huge runs against our 1st team.... not sure we'd make that call come regular season.

    CB:
    *CLAP* *CLAP*.
Winfield is among the best in the business.
Griffin looked extremely good this week... he was making tackles, was solid in coverage, etc.

Didn't pay much attention to McCauley and Gordon for some reason.... but if I didn't notice them; take it as a good sign.

    S:
Sharper doesn't seem to be slowing down yet.... hell of a hit, too.
Tyrell looked good as well from what I could see.

    Other thoughts / back ups.

Erin Henderson better make this team, he's showing us a lot.
Rufus also was showing a lot, but not always good; I get the impression he's trying too hard and makes reckless mistakes.... but is he better than Pope???
Be nice to see him make the team.

That kicker we have is looking pretty decent.
Kluwe is also sorely under rated.

That's all I can think of for now.
Brooks is still on the team so that the Vikes can put him in during preseason garbage time the rest of the way.
That way the other QBs that the Vikes want to keep aren't exposed to excessive injury risk.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

+1, also Letroy Guion is getting up there with that hit he made. I was pissed when we drafted him over Carl Nicks but he is making me a believer.

TJack has me concerned, not because of how he is playing....but, his decision to run head on instead of sliding.
He eeems fragile to me, I don't like the injury stuff from bone-headed plays.
WTF is he running head first in a meaningless preseason game.
The guy needs to slide, slide, slide.
