Former SIU tight end Braden Jones and running back Arkee Whitlock have agreed to free agent contracts with the Minnesota Vikings.

Both Jones and Whitlock will report to the Vikings Thursday for their first mini-camp.

No from what I heard he signed with the Bears but nothing to confim either way

Man that would be my dream if Arkee Whitlock and Braden Jones made it to the Vikings. As you can see by my name I am an SIU grad. I have seen both play a ton. Arkee is the real deal. He outplayed Brandon Jacobs of the Giants when they were on the same team. He has good size, speed and instincts.

Braden Jones is an all around athlete who does not drop passes. Maybe a little undersized and not an amazing blocker for the NFL. Both have a good shot.

The Vikings agreed to terms with 16 rookie free agents Sunday, vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said, but will not release the names until each player signs his contract.

However, two players who were known to have agreed with the Vikings are Texas Tech punter Alex Reyes and Colorado offensive lineman Brian Daniels. Reyes was considered the top undrafted punter and will challenge incumbent Chris Kluwe in training camp

Wow I figured our depth wasn't that bad I wonder how 16 undrafted rookies decided we were the best option for them to make a roster?

Whn you look at how many player go undrafted it actually not that many. You get alot of guys from small schools or players from bigger schools but where never the "starsr" on the team. Most know they will have to make it on special teams or go to a team that needs alot of depth on the team. this is why i wish the NFL would invest in a true minor league system and not NFL Europa. I thin there is some players that just need a chance to develop a year or 2 and then could be a solid player in the NFL.

That group, along with the eight players the Vikings drafted, will be at Winter Park next weekend for three days for a rookie minicamp. The Vikings also are going to have another 15 to 20 players in attendance for the purpose of giving them a tryout. Those players will simply sign waivers"
