S Tyrell Johnson:The Vikings had to move up to acquire Johnson in the hopes of further bolstering their pass rush. The Arkansas State product looks to be the safety of the future, as Darren Sharper is entering his 12th season.
    I like this statement.

First I am not sure what role exactly Tyrell is going to play in "bolstering our pass rush", I mean I am sure there will be some blitz opportunities, but not that much.

And secondly I hope we already bolstered our pass rush with Mr. Allen aquired a few days before we drafted Tyrell.

Better pass coverage = more time to rush the passer.
Better pass rush = less pressure on the defensive backs to hold coverage.

    They work off of eachother.

After 3 seconds, receivers should be open, it's the way the game works, they have the natural advantage. Receivers know where they're going, the snap count, etc.

I firmly believe we have great talent in our secondary, and the acquisition of Madieu Williams and Tyrell Johnson only add to this already very talented group.

The horrible numbers put up by our defense against the pass is due to the pass rush, and that every team we played gave up on the run very early into the game(as they should have.)

Gaining Jared Allen, Ray Edwards and Brian Robison growing and gaining experience, as well as the maturation of our linebackers will all add to our ability to rush the passer, and ultimately cover the pass.

I don't even feel like I'm going out on a limb to say this but,
    I truly believe, this years " D "
could be the best " D " the Vikings have ever put on a field.
And I've been around for many years.
I'm pumped not only for our D but for our whole team.
This is going to be a season that will not be forgotten

Re: Vikings Training Camp Preview & Goals

The addition of Allen means that Ray Edwards will shift from right to left end. Edwards played the spot at Purdue and has expressed no reservations about moving, but expect at least a minor adjustment period.
Ray Edwards is going to light it up this year. Forget Taylor.
