Re: Vikings sign WR Michael Jenkins
I like this signing quite a bit, but would have liked it much more paired with signing James Jones or Malcom Floyd.
I think that the staff is banking on Bernard Berrian getting back to productive. Not superstar, but productive. And that may be asking too much from a guy who seems happy to just be stealing money.
If Berrian is completely healthy and ready to go then Berrian, Harvin, Jenkins and Aromashodu is not a terrible foursome with the addition of Kyle Rudolph.
Harvin is a MUCH better receiver than many on here give him credit for and could really have a special year with McNabb.
Again, I would still like to see us pursue Floyd, but it does not appear we will do so.

It's going to be tough for them to get open without a consistent & real deep threat pulling defenders out of the box. (See 2010 without Rice or Moss)

Well if the box is stacked couldn't a number 2 or 3 wide out easily get open?

Look again at our #2 & #3 receivers. How well did they do last year?

Re: Vikings sign WR Michael Jenkins
True.. but look at the year prior to Favre getting here.. Berrian had some nice catches/plays when he was healthy. Not saying he'll have the same level of production.. but that's what the staff is planning on, I'm sure.

As long as our O-Line play solid our receivers will be fine (I think)
Is Kruetz still available?814

Re: Vikings sign WR Michael Jenkins
I like the signing. He is an athletic guy. Yeah he may not replace rice but who says we need to. The last time we tried to "replace" a great reciever we had, aka Randy Moss, we strethed and ended up with Troy Williamson... So having said that lets just keep bringing in the athletes and see how we can use them. Jenkins has great hands. Lets see how it works out.

The box will be stacked, but that is going to be fine. With the 2 TE sets and AD in the backfield, McNabb and Ponder can use their play-action rollout ability to throw a bunch of TD's. Let them stack the box and stop the run. the play-action (a McNabb/Ponder specialty) will hurt them with our TE's.

The box has always been, and will always be stacked.

The key is knowing were the "Stacker" is and going to the opposite side of him when you run or exposing the zone vacated by the stacker when passing.
To date, we've done pretty good running against stacked boxes. In 09 we did pretty good passing against them. I anticipate that we will do the same in 11.Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

A man with a clue. As long as we have Peterson, the defense has to stack the box or get creamed.

That's a limitation for the defense in reality. I don't think we had the offensive ability or creativity to take advantage of that with the previous coaching staff, but think we may now.
Saw just a glimpse of a few things they worked on the first day of training camp and was encouraged. It is definately different.“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs.
