C'mon now ... he will obviously remain the FG kicker.

But if his kickoffs seriously struggle ... they very well could bring Lloyd back in.

but do they struggle enough to warrant bringing in a dedicated KO guy that can't even outkick "Shortwell"?

Inside a dome, he's kicked them 1-2 yards deep, but all have been returned except one I think. I went to both preseason games this year, in warmups he wasn't even hitting deep in the endzone. I've yet to see a truly impressive kickoff from him. NOTHING warranting a roster spot as a 'Kickoff Specialist"

I think the staff wants him on the roster. The issue is roster spots. With the injuries to Rice, Griffin and Cook, we need depth now to accomodate those guys not being available to us. Griffin is not on the PUP list so he takes a roster spot even though he may not be available immediately. Same goes for Cook.

Not sure there is room for him but I could live without Schuler.

Lloyd returns to Panthers

Carolina had signed a kickoff specialist in Todd Carter but he suffered from back spasms on Sunday against the Giants and could not continue. Carter and the Panthers reached an injury settlement, according to the Associated Press.
