Vikings should seriously take a look at Suggs

http://min.scout.com/2/722991.html

"The Vikings have been mentioned as one of the teams that might make a strong free agent push for Ravens unrestricted free agent DE/OLB Terrell Suggs."

Suggs would be a great pick-up for the Vikes. This would make our D-line one of the best if not the best in the NFL.

It all starts up front

Re: Vikes serious about Terrell Suggs

This is the best option for the Vikes to take care of this position for the long haul.
Everybody can forget about Jared Allen, he will be resigned/franchised by the chiefs.
Carl Peterson has already said he will not let him get away.
I am all for the Vikes making a big splash with Suggs and signing complimentary players to fill out the roster.
Although i would be willing to bet Ken Hamlin gets a good look at safety.

I also like Sugg's versaitility from having played in a 3-4 defense.
We can play some good zone blitzes with him dropping back and leber and henderson tearing the qb apart.

Re: Vikes serious about Terrell Suggs

Very nice read my friend, thanks.
While the Vikings have invested a lot of draft weekends of recent years at the defensive end position, it has yielded mixed results at best.
I don't really warrant stuff like this as credible this early in the off season.
The source could be nothing more than a agent trying to drum up more interest in his player.

By the way, seems that some fat bald, glasses wearing, crocked toothed guy on this site has been using that term alot today in the draft threads.

Excellent post with great points on Allen and Hamlin.

I just wonder why the Cowpokes would let him get away without even tendering him an offer if he is that good.
It still might be coming/in the works.

I will be watching both of these guys with interest.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

260 pound DE.. in a 4-3 alignment, I think have proven more times than not to wear down and become a liability in the run support game. Unless the Vikes are thinking about a switch to a 3-4 I don't see Suggs as an impact player in a 4-3.

Where do you line him up at? Sam.. TE's would chew him up in coverage.

Outsiders view.. like A. Thomas last year.. not a good fit for a 4-3.

Re: Vikes serious about Terrell Suggs

I think suggs is a bit small for a 4-3 defense, he is perfect for the 3-4 cuz he is fast enough to play olb.Nonetheless he would automatically become the best pass rusher on this team so bring his ass over here

Your talking crazy. Unless you meant to type 3-4, a prototypical RDE is usually around 260ish and the LDE is around 280ish.

3-4 Defense (Cowboys)
72 Stephen Bowen DE 23 6-5 300 2 Hofstra
99 Chris Canty DE 25 6-7 300 3 Virginia

90 Jeremiah Ratliff DE 26 6-4 298 3 Auburn
96 Marcus Spears DE 24 6-4 298 3 LSU
93 Anthony Spencer DE 24 6-3 266 R Purdue

4-3 Defense (Vikings
91 Ray Edwards DE 23 6-5 268 2 Purdue
73 Otis Grigsby DE 27 6-3 260 2 Kentucky
99 Erasmus James DE 25 6-4 266 3 Wisconsin

I will rebut with...

KGB
The Freak
Andre Carter
Alex Brown
Derrick Burgess

Just to name a few that are pass rushers that become liabilities in run support. If you are going to pay these folks premium dollars they should be able to stay on the field. Again I said more often than not.

Add to the fact that Suggs hasn't played with his hand down in this league yet, I think it is a risk in FA to spend that kind of money on a guy switching positions.

Not critizing... just adding an opinion.

Guess what.. name one of those 260 pounders on there that is stout in run support game in and out.. hell we hide KGB and Hunter in the running game all the time.

All I am saying is too spend that kind of money in FA on a situational player is crazy.. again see KGB and the Freak.. neither after about 5 years in the game are fierce pass rushers either..

I strongly disagree with this statement.
I am no expert on the Ravens but i recall seeing him line up with his hand down quite a bit when he is playing on the line.
Remember that the ravens have been experimenting with the 46 in recent seasons.
