Re: Vikings' new fallback: Donte Stallworth

Personally I would rather have Stallworth than Berrian but I wouldn't mind either one.
Stallworth seems more sure-handed annd I like the way he fight for YAC.

Guys, I don't think there is a chance in hell that we get Moss back here. He wants to win the title NOW! I don't think we are quite there yet. Also, he is gonna want a QB that can get him the ball consistently, and we don't have that. Jackson is not quite there yet and quite frankly I don't know if he will be. Thirdly, he is going to want a lot of money and I'm not sure if we are going to be willing to put up the 7-10 mill that he is going to want/deserves.

I would love to see Moss back in purple and gold, but I think it is just a pipe dream of ours!

Please pass that pipe, I think reality is starting to set back in ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm really feeling the idea of having Berrian- a younger guy with speed and good hands.
Donte's injuries in the past scare me.
But you know...any proven wide out would be exciting.

Unless the QB is sacked before the WR can get down the field. In that case it will be business as usual.

Then again maybe he can catch a few from Wade and Rice

It's not a bad fallback. Stallworth is an exciting player to watch, especially after the catch.
However, I've heard that he has some off-field issues and that could hurt our team. It's a big risk to take. I don't want another Randy Moss like mentality in the team again.

To be fair, Stallworth has better hands than Berrian, who tends to drop quite a few passes.
He's not as bad as Williamson, to be sure, but just prepare yourself to see a big drop now and then.
Just remind yourself that he typically makes up for it with big plays later.

The only thing I don't really like about Stallworth is his hamstring issues.
He had them in New Orleans, and it led to Joe Horn becoming the go to guy for Brooks.
Once we went to Philly, he had a tremendous season, despite missing time with nagging injuries again.
He was under used in New England, but with Moss, Welker, Faulk and Watson...well, there's just not enough balls to go around for everyone.
I think Stallworth would bring a lot to the table in terms of solid hands, a dangerous deep threat and the ability to put on a clever move here and there to pick up decent YAC.

I'm going to be completely satisfied with Berrian if we get him, though.
A legit deep threat will take men out of the box (as has been mentioned ad naseum) but will also free up the other receivers.

I'm quite pleased by our approach towards acquiring free agents this year.
If we pull off a good draft, I'll be as excited about this team as I've been since the late 90s.

Yup, Stallworth is with Cleveland and we don't need a fallback anyways if we signed the guy we want.. Berrian is now under contract

But we still need a QB that can throw the vertical ball. It would be nice to open things up for AD though!
How can you say that? It doesn't matter who is throwing the long ball if our WR's can't catch them or can't get open.
