    A few players stood out from this mini-camp, in my humble opinion.

    * TE Visanthe Shiancoe was the absolute star of Friday's practice for the offense, with a diving catch and a one-handed catch. Shiancoe is leaner, and he is determined to show that he's not a free-agent bust....
    Thanks for the read my friend.

    DE Jared Allen surely humbled second-year offensive tackle Chase Johnson on a couple of snaps on Saturday. Allen also didn't fare too poorly against starter Bryant McKinnie, getting enough penetration on Friday to bat down a pass attempt from Tarvaris Jackson.
    Just the fact that he is on the other side should help our T's get better.

    It might be dangerous to even bring this to light, but Visanthe Shiancoe had an action-packed mini camp filled with difficult catches all over the field.....

    Notes

    - Sidney Rice didn’t participate in many drills on either Saturday or Sunday, possibly because of a minor injury. Even so, Rice is a key part to a Vikings receiving core that is deeper now than it has been since Childress came to town....
    Thanks for the read my friend.

    As far as the wide receivers as a unit, the Vikings only kept five out of training camp in 2007. If they keep five again, Rice, Wade, Aundrae Allison, Bernard Berrian and Robert Ferguson are the clear favorites.

    But Justin Surrency has been outstanding throughout OTAs and mini camps, and Johnson is certainly in the mix right now as well (although he battled a slightly tweaked hamstring all weekend).

    If the Vikings keep six, keep an eye on both Surrency and Johnson during training camp. Both guys are fun to watch, but both are slightly undersized.
    And 2006 as well.

    Gonna be a fun position to watch now that there are a couple of others in the mix as well in Surrency and JJ.

    Sure hope the staff can figure out a way to keep 6.

    He’s more accurate on his deep passes, he’s more accurate on his out routes, he’s more accurate on his slant passes, and he continues to thread needles he did not thread last summer.

    But until Jackson shows improvement during a live game situation, none of it matters.
    Lots of good comments on TJ this year.
    Bottom line says it all, however, I believe we are gonna see it happen (much to the chagrin of a few posters on here
    )
