WAHHHHHHHH. Go practice your drives with Tiger then.
Spin that one, hater.Longwell...points out the Vikings went to a directional kickoff plan last season under new special teams coordinator Brian Murphy and thus the aim wasn't necessarily to boot the ball as deep as possible every time.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Probably because the kicker couldn't get it into the endzone consistently, with enough hang time, to allow coverage teams to get down there.
Call it spin, I call it a ST's Coord getting what he can out of a player until they can fix it next (this) year.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Give the full story my friend....singersp wrote:
you know Longwell's average kickoff distance was 64.9 yards, according to Marty's favourite stat website. It would be nice to have a kicker who could consistently kick off a ball inside the 5 or into the endzone, rather than somewhere inside the 20.
64.1 (Ranked 36th) How in the hell can a kicker be ranked 36th when there are only 32 teams. That means there are backups out there kicking farther than him.
Additionally, he is ranked 25th (27.9) when it comes to Avg Starting position.
Same site...... B)
and they list guys that have one kick, or under 5. Shane Lechler kicked off once last season for 75 yards and he's #1.

your right, I'm sure it had nothing to do with using a guy with good accuracy to pin defenders to the sidelines, taking away a portion of the field and using the sideline as a defender.Zeus wrote:

Easier to defend a guy when you know which way he has to cut than it is to defend a guy who can go anywhere.
but I guess you'll probably just write that off as 'excuses'

I bet we don't see any directional kicking (except on Punts) this year.
Lets not forget what the Aints did to us (Percy) on Koff's. Pretty much took one of our strengths away. I for one sure wish we would have had a young strong leg in overtime.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I hope we sign 4 ex-packers next offseason so I can see what kind of hate-rants you can come up with for them.
