Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier would like to bring potential free agent S Madieu Williams (Bengals) to the Minnesota Vikings.

I would like this move. I think he has a lot of potential and could be good in a Cover 2 scheme.

what type of safety is he? what are his strengths and what does he excell in?

I think he is listed a s a FS. Pretty good guy from what I can tell of the field as well.

i hope he's a really good cover guy with solid physicallity.
I think we need a good hitter in our secondary. I thought Tank Williams would have been that but i guess he hasn't panned out.

i like this idea of trying to bring him in. i think he would be a good replacement for smith, but he wont be too hard to replace. i think we should move sharper back to FS though, he is a ball hawk and he can just sit back and play center field at FS. I think SS is more of a taclking safety and sharper isnt that good in that area. Another thought that has been brought of before is moving Griffin to safety. he gets beat a lot on man coverage, i think he could do better in safety cuz of it being mostly zone. he isnt a bad tackler either.

Sounds promising and certainly worth a good look at, unusual for a starter playing Special Teams so wonder if we'd let him carry on doing that.

Well it isn't as unusual as most think.
Infact a guy of Wes Welkers value to the Pats didn't stop them from using him on PRs last year.

As I've said alot on here, special teams composition has alot to do with injuries to players in other areas of the field (O and D) and will drive some starters to participate in ST coverages/returns if the roster changes dictate it.
