This is the eighth time the Vikings won't have a first-round pick. Here's what they did in the other seven years...

Yeah ... losing four straight first rounders and a couple of seconds and a third all for Herschel Walker is mond-boggling. Looking back ... I am wondering who the hell thought it was a good deal in the first place. And looking ahead ... if one more person compares to the Jared Allen deal to the Walker deal I may go nuts. We did not give up NEAR the same price for Allen. Not even 1/2.

Besides, the Vikings got a better player in Allen than they did in Walker.
And Allen will be utilized properly, something that Walker never was in Minny.

Correct. I always kind of feel badly for Herschel because he gets blamed as being a bust in Minnesota and he is remembered heavily for being involved in this trade. He should be remembered as one of the best college football players to ever play ... and a VERY good NFL running back. If he had not been sucked into the USFL out of college ... his NFL numbers would likely be close to hall worthy.

No the idiots were the Vikings for the Walker deal.
Once you do something like that in a franchise of course people are going to compare any relatively big trade to it.
It's just natural to make those comparisons, they aren't talking about he scope but more importantly are we going to get value for our trade.
If we traded a first and two thirds for a player who nose dives you could in fact argue that it was pretty much another Walker deal.
I think Allen is going to do good so I have no worries, but it's not just a matter of those people being "idiots".

Correct...in no way is this the mortgage of the future like the Walker deal was.
