Vikings have veteran CB Kelvin Hayden for visit

I assume he would know the defense since he was with the Colts but he has had injury issues.

Hayden was released by the Colts in late July. The 28-year-old had been a starter for the past four seasons, although missed time each of the past three seasons due to injuries. Hayden played in 11 games last season, registering 61 total tackles with two interceptions and eight passes defensed.

Saw on Twitter they didn't pursue it but signed the RB instead.

We decided to pass on him for now. But not ruling out signing him down the road. I wouldn't be upset if we did sign him. Living in Indianapolis, I saw him play a lot. He isn't stellar by any means. But he is very serviceable.

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

He is a solid corner that could add some depth. Especially with the injury concerns with Cook and Griffin.

This could also be a sign that Frazier is concerned with the play of the corners all around.

I think the position is pretty set right now, but Hayden could get in the mix if we bring him on board.

    @TomPelissero:

I'm told #Vikings have made no decision on signing CB Kelvin Hayden. Sense it's a backup plan if Cedric Griffin/Asher Allen don't progress.

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

They could use another marginal CB with a history of missing games due to injury because quite frankly they just don't have any on the roster right now.

    LOL, well played my friend.

I'm not sure what to make of this. First, I'm not sure how they can afford him even though he is probably a cheap signing. If the staff holds true to form (during the Chiller days) and they keep 5 CB's, ......

    RCB Griff
    LCB Cook
    LCB/Nickle Whinny
    RCB Asher

    ?? Sherels
    Burton
    Carter
    Parks
    Torrence

So far Sherels, Carter, and Burton have all flashed and can be had on the roster pretty cheap.

Maybe they just brought him in for a look in case one goes down sometime in the year. If that happens maybe we will see him resurface again.

Kelvin Hayden is a great cover 2 corner. He won a Super Bowl with Leslie Frazier in Indy. We have terrible depth in our secondary. We need to sign this guy!

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

First, not sure, but from what I've read so far, the secondary did pretty good all things considered (no push up the middle by the DT's).

Second, not sure we can afford him. Other than a blog, by all accounts we only have just a bit over $300,000 in cap.
