Draft snapshot: Matt Ryan

The Vikings have their eyes on Matt Ryan, a 6-foot-5, 228-pound quarterback from Boston College, but whether he will be there when Minnesota picks 17th in the first round is the question....

I doubt he will be thier either but If we did go QB in the first he is probably the only one I would like there.

Now see. There's your competition for the starting franchise QB job. You can't hang your hat on an aging vet that has 1 or two years left in him.

I don't think the Dolphins or Falcons will take Matt Ryan.

Therefore, he should fall to the Ravens at #8. But if they some how pass up on him, (which I seriously doubt will happen) he should be available @ #17.

I'd rather have brohm.
Better stats and more polished.
Ryan throws too many interceptions.

It could happen.
Quinn fell last year a lot farther than projected.

It just seems highly unlikely!

Re: Vikings have their eyes on QB Matt Ryan

I hope Ryan drops to 17 but just don't see that happening.

Here are a few bullets/snippets from a magazine I am reading on the QB's that are projected to go after Ryan.
If I was to guess at a QB that would be on the roster next year I would look at Booty,
and Johnson as they are projected as good fits for teams that run a WCO.

Brohm, Pocket passer that isn't very mobile.
Star potential if he lands with a franchise that has an outstanding OL that can give him protection.
Leadership skills are in question

Woodson, Excellent arm and throws the deep ball on a frozen rope.
He can lead a team to wins.
Ugly mechanics with eradic accuracy.
Needs a great QB coach that can break him down and rebuild him or he'll end up another Leftwich.

Flacco, Elite size and arm strength makes him an interesting prospect.
Above average accuracy and mobility.
He ran a simple offense in Delware so his abilities to run a complex WCO are in question.
A long term project that given the right system could be a above average starter

Booty, Smart QB that could really excell in a WCO.
Can get through his progressions and is decent throwing on the run. Good mechanics and a quick release. but he doesn't have an arm strong enough to throw the deep ball consistently.

Johnson, An accurate arm with good athleticism. Can make plays with his feet as well as his arm.
Hasn't faced alot of high level competition so the jump to the NFL will be a big one.
A perfect fit for a WCO but probably won't be ready until 2009/2010 season if matched with the right coaching staff.

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I agree Marr...of the three, I would prefer Booty.
He's most ready to play and I think he's gonna be a good one for many years.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
