Vikings give Griffin extension

The Vikings have extended the contract of cornerback Cedric Griffin.

I kindof hope they do as well.
Typically though, if they were gonna extend him they would have done it last year.
Lets hope that they held onto some CAP this year so that can do it as well.

If the Vikings would have felt like keeping Birk he would have been signed to an extension before the offseason..

Unless Sullivan was truly showing something impressive last year and going into this year, I am against letting Birk go because this team is built to win NOW.
I'd understand if we were not contenders and we didnt want to keep Birk to save some cap room and avoid paying him alot as he is declining, but if your playing to win now, C is a position you need experience at.
He was a leader on this team, and unless Sullivan plays exceptionally for a 2nd year player, I could see this coming back to hurt us.
I still have faith in Sullivan and truly believe he could do fine, I'd just feel a bit more comfortable with a veteran leader leading us into the trenches.
