As they have done routinely in recent years, the Vikings crafted a salary cap-friendly contract with wide receiver Bernard Berrian that allows more than half of his guaranteed money to count against their 2008 salary cap...

Re: Vikings give Berrian a cap-friendly contract
Good work by the front office, keeping us competetive with plenty of cap room now and in the future.

That's why I think we are gonna be at least an above average team for many years to come.
Because Robby B is a cap genius.
Gotta love it.

Still have man-love for Brzezinski, huge asset to the team.

As some here call him Brz-cheapski, today I'll call him Brz-smartski. ;D Nice job.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

Re: Vikings give Berrian a cap-friendly contract
I think I am the only one who calls him Bryzcheapski.
;D
Why is it a smart job?
Sure it makes sure that alot of our windfall that we have this year is used and we won't be paying it all on the back end, however, I wonder if the fact that we allocated over half of the CAP available this year on Berrian is smart from a bigger picture perspective, however, maybe it is also the reason we didn't get to sign one of the more pricey DE (i.e. Odom).
It will take about 5-7 Mill to sign our rookie class, Tapeh and Williams will take a chunk.
Wonder how much is really left for a DE?Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I'm guessing that Brzezinski knows what he's doing and I say he is the best at the game that there is regarding the cap.
His thoughts are integrative and comprehensive, not linear like the typical 'list-maker' hack.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Re: Vikings give Berrian a cap-friendly contract
It is swings and roundabouts.. if we'd used a huge chunk to get a DE then it could be said that there might be enough to get a decent WR, Instead we went for a WR and will then look for DE's either by trade or draft.
Have to admire the guy for at least putting in a position to make some sort of run at FA as opposed to being in cap hell like some teams are.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

We actually did make a run at all the top DE's.
The problem is that none of them really made it past their first visit.I love lamp.
