Vikings - Free Agent Prospects

Players under contract will get cut loose, and many of these players will get re-signed by their current teams. But here's a list of players who are unrestricted free agents at key positions of need for the Vikings

Slim.
But if I had to pick a few it would be Ashley Lelie, Donte' Stallworth, and Jerramy Stevens.

I wouldn't surprised or disappointed to pick up Stevens, but I don't think either or those WRs would help much.
I think we will address the WR issue through trades.

For Pete's sake most of them have gone down hill since 2004...umm OK let's offer them to the Vikings!

Looks like Jerramy Stevens would fit right in..."Has all the physical tools (6 feet 7, 265 pounds), but he drops a lot of balls"

Lelie was *horrible* in Atlanta.
Donte Stallworth had an okay season in Philly, but that was as #2 to Reggie Brown.

And Jerramy Stevens is such a ball-dropping jerk that I can't see having him on our team.

The Vikes will have to wait to see who is dropped and use their money wisely on key role players (as the Patriots do) rather than big-name splash transactions.

If we do go for a WR in FA I will - once again - bring up D.J. Hacket out of Seattle.

Drew Bennett of Tennesee will be the popular choice, and Kevin Curtis of St.Louis is also one of the good prospects despite I think he had an average season.

The best TE out there is Eric Johnson of SF. I think they want to retain him, but he will go to a place where he can be a starter.

I like a few players on that list:
1)
WR - Kevin Curtis, 2)
TE - Daniel Graham, and, 3)
Jared Allen, or, possibly Freeney.

Stallworth is always hurt.
Stevens is a complete jerk; undeserving of being a Viking...in fact, far too much time has been given to him here.
Lelie is another underachieving WR...something we DO NOT need more of.
I can't imagine the Chiefs letting Gonzalez (or, Jared Allen) go, but, he is obviously just what the doctor ordered.
Plummer was a disaster with lot's of talent and a great coach in Denver...imagine the problems in Minneapple; no, I repeat, no way.
I like Garcia, team player.
