    Re: Vikings eyeing Nate Washington

Washington is a good player. I don't think he's the piece of the puzzle we're missing at wide receiver. We still need a big physical guy, think Rice, but 20 pounds heavier. Which I've been proclaiming for quite some time now.

I could definitely see Washington beating out Wade for the starting spot though.

A fix? No. An upgrade? Probably.

Oh, well yes is does make a difference, maybe.

If he caught 40 balls, and caught 51% of passes thrown his way, he would have 38 "no-catches" and that list only goes down to 40 "no-catches". I'm nto sure if my logic makes sense but I think it does.

Anyways, I'm a bit confused, but basically he just didn't see that many passes, and was primarily used for deep routes. It could be that he has the dropsies, or that he can't get open by himself and so he didn't see many targets, or that he is fine but was underutilized with Ward and Holmes in front of him.

I wonder what Steeler fans think of him.

After reading that thread, I'm cold on him. The Steelers fans are biased, so I don't care about the overpaid thing, but I do care about the on-field traits. Like they say, he is a solid receiver. We really need more than that. Also, with no returning experience, I suggest we look towards the draft.

    Re: Vikings eyeing Nate Washington

I think a lot of where the team goes with WR is going to hinge on what the team's behind-closed-doors feelings with regards to Rice are. Aside from him, our roster is filled with guys in the 5' 11" - 6' 1", 180-205 lb ranges. Washington seems like a poor man's Berrian; not sure that's what we need. I recall a lot of times where our offense either went 3-and-out or hit a long first down, but couldn't consistently convert medium range passes. Shank and Wade are both decent 1st down converters at times, but neither one draw much attention from defenses, and Shank (as well as the whole team) could certainly benefit more in red zone situations if we had a physically imposing WR on the field.

If Washington's price is right, I wouldn't have a problem, but I feel it would be adding more of the same old formula that has improved but not set off any fireworks.

    I would rather have TJ!!!!!!!

    Bernard, TJ
with Adrian in the backfield and Visante sneaking across the middle we are talking a very explosive offense for Sage to play with.

Defenses would not be able to put 8 in the box and both Adrian and Chester would have great years.

Just talked to the agent for St. Louis Rams cornerback Ron Bartell and he said his client is scheduled to visit New Orleans tomorrow. Bartell’s agent said he had not heard from the Vikings.

Nate Washington’s agent said his client did not have a visit scheduled yet soon after free agency opened but he acknowledged that the Vikings are among the teams who are reportedly interested in him.

We also hear that seven teams have expressed interest in Vikings free agent Heath Farwell.
