    Vikings eliminate 78 players from draft list

    http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/42826802.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiU9PmP:QiUiD3aPc:_Yyc: aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUr

    "You don't want to bring a guy in that the coaches don't want," Spielman said. "That's where you kind of get into some scenarios that, 'OK, why don't we want this guy in? Does he fit our offense? Is it the type of character guy [we want]?' ... Everybody gets to weigh in their opinions, and we decide what's best for the organization"

    Not something a local yutz wants to hear!

    Let the list building begin...
    "There are 3 things that sell in America:
    Violence, sex, and drugs.
    The only way you are going to make this game more appealing to the public than it was before is if there are on field orgies at halftime and the domes become massive opium dens."

    I think it's safe to say that we have included these guys in our final list and that they have not been red dotted.

    "The Vikings played host to 28 prospects this week and still can bring in two more to reach the NFL maximum for pre-draft visits. The group included receivers
    Darrius Heyward-Bey (Maryland),
    Percy Harvin (Florida) and
    Hakeem Nicks (North Carolina);
    quarterback Josh Freeman (Kansas State);
    tackle Eben Britton (Arizona); and defensive backs
    D.J. Moore (Vanderbilt)
    Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest)."

    Doing your homework, will allow a better educated pick, that everyone is on board with. Being as only 2-4 draft picks will make this team, they may as well have the kind of caracter that will work in our clubhouse. And the ability to help immediatly.

    And to think this thread was going along so nice until this little inject.
    :

    Anyway,

    Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said the prospects earned "red dots" primarily because of character and/or injury issues and were taken off the board.
    Maybe that leaves Harvin out of the picture. Not sure if Cushings and Matthews, Raji etc will fall that low but might mean those cats are out as well.

    I doubt it means these guys Marr!
    I think he is talking more specifically about drug issues. There was a story on espn.com about our scout deparment making a fake page on face book and adding a prospect as a friend only to discover pictures of drugs and drug money on their profile
    ;D.

    With the uncertainty of these fake reports of drug testing and our own players and their starcaps issues, i don't think we are going to take a hard stance on rumors.

    If they are rumors, I agree, my guess is they already know/knew about each and every players past use of drugs if they had any.

    For this discussion, I am assuming the "rumors" are much more than that.

    Cushing just got invited to the draft party. They probably wouldn't have done that if he did indeed test positive. Marr you
    know a lot of this is a teams scouting department trying to get players to slip to them. If I were the Vikings I would plant coke on Raji and then call the cops so we can get him with the 22nd.
