Vikings Draft Trivia - Question #1 - An easy one
The Vikings sent out a PDF to all registered season-ticket-holders yesterday with the 2009 Vikings Draft Guide that will be distributed to media members at tomorrow's draft in Winter Park.
It's *very* cool and chock full of great draft information, including some great Vikings draft history stuff.
So - I thought I'd peruse it for some good Vikings draft trivia questions!
Here's Question #1:
The Vikings have had the #1 overall choice in the draft two times in their history.
Who are the players taken and in what year?
*BONUS*
How did the Vikings acquire the 2nd of those two overall number 1s?
=Z=
Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

That pick was traded by the NY Football Giants in the Tarkenton trade.
But the Giants were 8-8 in 1967.....how'd they end up at #1?

1.
1961 - Tommy Mason - #1 overall draft choice
2.
1968 - Ron Yary - #1 overall draft choice
BONUS - the pick was, as Shock said, acquired from the NY Giants in the original Fran Tarkenton trade.
The Giants, at 8-8 in 1967, ended up with the first pick in the 1968 NFL draft because they voted FOR the AFL-NFL merger, setting aside any conflict issues of sharing the same market with the AFL's New York Jets, and were rewarded the #1 overall pick in the draft as compensation.
