That makes me very happy indeed...since there was no way that nine draft picks would have made the roster anyway.
Didn't I say that a week ago when many here wanted to sign Allen to an offer sheet & give up the 2009 & 2010 1st picks instead.
I just remember you complaining about how dumb it was to give up future picks.
    :P
I repeatedly said if we gave up 2 this year & sign Allen, we'd still have 7 picks left & stated we would not be able to sign Allen & have roster spots for 9 picks had the Vikings signed him to an offer sheet.

NFL Draft 2008 has come and gone for the year. While I am not quite as excited afterward as I was a year ago as it relates to the draft, specifically, the players we added have made me more energized for the start of the season than any over the course of the last five or six years.....

With the 43nd overall pick in the second round, the Minnesota Vikings selected safety Tyrell Johnson from Arkansas State....

    All - Undrafted team
We have a lot of plays on that list. Always a good thing.

    Thanks for the read Kevon.

    Darrell Robertson , Georgia Tech
It's surprising he wasn't drafted. He has good quickness and can run sideline-to-sideline, but he's a bit small (245 pounds) and can be overpowered when teams run right at him.
I was singing this guys praises for some time.
Wonder what I missed that the scouts didn't like.

The Jared Allen trade left the Vikings as bystanders for a good portion of the draft's opening day — they weren't complaining — and in the end Minnesota had only five picks....

The Vikings have been lauded by draft analysts for making the most of out of their 2008 draft, which many include Jared Allen as being a part of. With just five picks, the Vikings added depth at safety, quarterback, defensive tackle and center – and all four are expected to make the final roster. WR Jaymar Johnson might be a candidate to be sent to the practice squad.
    I agree with that assesment.
Makes me wonder why they wasted a pick on a WR though.
Kindof out of character for Spielman isn't it?

Maybe they are even more comfortable with thier starters and backups that most of us think.
    :

Former Viking Daunte Culpepper visited the Packers prior to draft weekend and it looked as though he was going to sign a deal with the team. Instead, Green Bay took two quarterbacks in the draft, all but eliminating the chance that Pepp will get signed as well.
Kindof sends ole Pepp and his agent ( ;D I crack myself up sometimes) a little message about his worth doesn't it?

I was kind of hoping they'd sign him so he could teach their young QB's how to read defenses.
