MANKATO, Minn.  After all the offseason hype, the Vikings' starting defensive line has yet to line up for even one snap in training camp, but the wait might not be much longer......

Re: Vikings' starting D-line close to lining up together
It's a long season, and taking it easy with Ray, and Pat is a good idea. I really like what Frazier say's about our LB group, and think that both EJ, and Chad could garner many votes for the pro-bowl. Berrian may be dropping a few here and there, but is still making some big catches downfield to make up for a occasional drop, kinda like that #84 guy we used to have.

Hopefully he jsut has a case of training camp dropsies, and taht will change when preseason and regular season start, otherwise, it sounds an awful lot like Troy Williamson.

I have man-love for the whole D-line.
I'm saving Phat Pat's taint sweat and putting it on my fireplace mantle next to the family picture.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Troy did a pretty good job of catching when it didn't matter if I remember right, just fell apart when it counted."PurpleTide" wrote:

Hopefully Berrian is the opposite and becomes more focused when it matters.
It will definitely be fun watching the defense play this year.
Other than AD running the ball, it'll be the most anticipated part of the game for me.

Re: Vikings' starting D-line close to lining up together
Yea, but with Berrian we know a lot better about what type of player we are getting.
He has a pro resume.
And he can perform at a good level and has elite speed.
So it’s a little different than Williamson.
Plus, I don’t think Berrian ever had a receiving corps as athletic as ours that had to be covered as well.
Last year he was it as far as receivers in Chicago.
Now opposite Rice and with Wade out there he should have a lot of favorable match-ups.
And if he doesn’t then Rice will and that’ll be just as good.

Pat Williams does rule that much.

Edwards returns
MANKATO  Defensive end Ray Edwards has been activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list and is taking part in drills during this morning’s practice. Edwards missed the first nine practices of training camp because of a lower-back injury that has bothered him since he hurt it during the Vikings’ Organized Team Activities
