Vikings also give special teams a lift - Competent Special Teams?

Vikings also give special teams a lift

Improvements on offense and defense got most of the attention, but the team also shored up its punt and kick coverage.

As I said in the Boulware thread, I like the way the staff pays attention to ST's almost to the point they do the other 2 sides of the ball.

Great read Singer. Thanks.

..."It's real important," Ferraro said of obtaining the veterans. "I think we've upgraded just about every position [and] that's going to give us that three- and four-phase situation. I'm excited about where we're at right now."...
I wish the season would just start.

You'll be posting in the take a dump thread soon, I trust!
;D

I've been posting about the improvement in special teams coverage I see coming with these aquisitions for a little while. I'm very excited about the prospect of having a very good special team. It should make a huge difference in field position which should help the defense.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

Well I hope so because it sucks to see Cromartie break a record on Petersons big day.

Judd Zulgad reports on the Vikings’ stealthy attempts to alleviate some special teams problems:

The Vikings also have, somewhat quietly, worked to solidify their special-teams units for a second consecutive offseason....
