Vikings after G Edwin Mulitalo (Ravens)

The Vikings are among several teams to have expressed interest in veteran guard Edwin Mulitalo, who was released Wednesday by the Baltimore Ravens. Mulitalo, 32, spent the day in Detroit and has visits scheduled next week with Seattle and Atlanta but, as of Friday afternoon, not with Minnesota.

From the 'briefly' section in this article.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

I dont know too much about Mulitalo but I believe the performance of T-Jack is directly related to the performance of the right side of the line.
If Childress thinks Hicks and Cook are going to be adequate, I have my doubts.
I'm on board with Cook given he will have his share of problems due to the steep learning curve. But I feel he will continue to improve. Until that time, it is up to Childress to help him out by leaving a back in on pass plays or with creative play calling to take the pressure off. The problem being, McKinnie has too many whiffs on the QBs blind side.
I would like to see Herrera at least given a chance at right guard. The guy has a mean streak and doesn't ever quit until the whistle blows.
Marcus Johnson could be tried there but I'm not so sure he is quick enough to pull on running plays or with the zone blocking scheme. His feet seem to be glued to the turf somewhat. But I hope I'm wrong and it turns out he is a stud at that position.
Because if we have Hicks at guard again,it is going to cost us in the passisng game.
I'm at least encouraged by them going after a guard.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

All I can say is that as far as I know Mulitalo has been a consistent starter for the Ravens for several years.

He had some injury issues last year though. But other than that he should be a solid veteran in the O-line group.

His cut by the Ravens were apparently partly a salary cap move.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    Hicks is a hack.
We need to upgrade RG...no question.
I'm actually intrigued with Cook at RT, he had some problems but did show some promise.
Totally disappointed in Johnson, Tice definitely oversold him.
Mulitalo is a mauler, a poor mans Hutchinson, perhaps? :-

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

    That would be sweet.
Seal up the right side of the line on passing plays.Get a couple receivers who can get open and catch. Combine that with last years running game. Suddenly you go from inept to formidable offense. KAO!

he could be the next dave dixon for us...
Q: At your age, can you handle a full season?
A: I m 37, number one. I took my family to Perkins a couple of days ago, and they didn t hand me a senior citizens discount card, so I feel pretty good.

Mulitalo is a lot like David dixon in his style.
If he's healthy, I wouldn't be against signing him to a 1 or 2 year contract
