Vikings with 3rd highest cap space to start FA
Okay.
Now, before any of the doom-sayers and great football salary-cap minds who inhabit this site get boners for these numbers, please note two frigging things:
1.
As they say below - they are UNOFFICIAL and APPROXIMATE.
2.
Denver is listed as the team with the lowest amount free, but they have made several expensive moves.
Which shows you that only the teams TRULY know what they have until the NFL publishes numbers.
All right then, unwashed masses - have at it.

With the latest extension to the CBA, the 2007 salary cap is approximately $109 M, which represents a nice increase over last year's $102 M figure. (Note that the cap was "just" $85.5 M in 2005, the final season prior to the CBA's extension.)
Keep in mind that these numbers remain tentative -- and are changing on a daily basis. These "unofficial" figures are approximate as of March 2 , 2007.

Re: Vikings with 3rd highest cap space - Idiots everywhere flock to this thread!
Thus far i like our approach, a lot of simply average players are getting paid way to much.
Re: Vikings with 3rd highest cap space to start FA
Other than Leneord Davis
;)
I dont see anyone worth the money they are getting. I think we are fine.
N. Harris went pretty cheap though... Suprised to see him with such a low price tag. I wonder if he Knee is worse than they let on or something.
???

I could use a small loan right about now. Think the Vikings Brass would hear me out if I called them ?

if you get one, everyone else will want one.

The title and introduction of the thread was so warm and inviting that I couldn't resist posting in this thread.
Go Rob Brzezinski!
Re: Vikings with 3rd highest cap space to start FA
One quick note, with all of the FA signings from other teams, has any team really improved to make you say "wow, they are going to be tough"? Other than the 9'ers (who overpaid, IMO) I don't see any teams that improved dramatically. Sure the Broncos & Dolphins got some guys, but they still have other issues (like QB's). No team really jumps out at me right now. All I see is a mediocre FA class being paid waaaay to much.
Re: Vikings with 3rd highest cap space to start FA
I'm not surprised at these numbers given our dismal offense (except our O-line).
Oh well, this FA and draft will be exciting.
Am I right?

Who's Leneord Davis?
Some benchwarmer for a loser team?
:D
Re: Vikings with 3rd highest cap space to start FA
I know there weren't that many quality free agents out there this go-round and I understand (and even support) the arguments against signing many of the guys in the free agent pool, but I still have the feeling that a lot of teams have gotten better and we have gone nowhere.
I understand that we cut some dead (albeit somehwat productive) weight and we made three signings that all filled a need of some sort, but we really haven't brought in anyone that is a playmaker or a morale/game changer and that scares me. We were 6-10 last year, and when you go 6-10 with a piss poor offense the last thing you want to do, IMO, is keep everything the same.
I just hope the draft helps us improve, because I feel like free agency did us very little good this year.
