Make sure you take lots of pics.........

By the way, if you happen to see a new guy wearing number 4, let me know.
I sighted in my .270 the other day just in case it was needed.

He won't show up once he finds out there are no sheep in Mankato.

He would have to go all the way to St Peter to find any of them.

Re: Vikes_King's Training Camp Adventures

Friday, July 25th 2008 - Afternoon Practice

Updates

• [li]First off, like expected, Edwards was at camp, but reported to practice without pads, only participated in limited, no contact drills [/li]
[li]I ran into Rufus Alexander at the end of camp after team introductions, he was in visible pain, but i talked to him briefly, and he said the knee was "just fine", altho right after he limped away[/li]
[li]I'm sure this is no big deal, but Winfield and two others (had their jerseys off, didn't recognize them) rode on a golf cart to head back to the showers, overheard Winfield complaining about being sore; it is the first day of camp tho[/li]

Observations

Adrian Peterson

Its clear Eric Bieniemy shows no favorites amongst his Running Backs.
Adrian Peterson made a wrong move on a pass blocking drill, and immediately got corrected.
On the plus side, after Bieniemy taking him aside, he was on spot for the rest of the drill, even pushed people back a couple yards past the line of scrimmage on a couple attempts.

On another drill, AD didn't do so hot on his first attempt.
He made an excuse saying "its just hot out here man"
Bieniemy.. once again not showing sympathy "WHO GIVES A SHIT!! We're all here!"
Also, he called him 2 8 (two eight), not AD, AP, Peterson, Adrian, etc.

Standout Players

The most impressive catch of the day came from Jim Kleinsasser, well at least the most impressive I saw (didn't watch much of actual practice today).
Take that how ever you want, it wasn't because everyone else slacked, it was jsut a terrific jumping catch over the defender.

A receiver would make my top plays as well, but one you're not thinking of, and it wasn't a reception
;D lol.
Robert Ferguson saw significant play time on punting team (not receiving).
On two plays in a row, he made great moves to get around the defender, and get to the PR man, receiving praise from the crowd, Childress, and Ferraro.

Tavaris Jackson

5-step-drops:
One his first snap, Tavaris took too long to get rid of the ball, and received criticism immediately from Bevell. For the most part for the rest of the drill, he got rid of the ball in around 2 seconds, most of the time hitting his receiver perfectly in stride. Overall liked what i saw during this drill.

5-on-5s (RB, TE, 2 WR QB vs 5 defenders): Over all this was a good practice, by everyone not just Tavaris.
He hit many receivers on the spot, when it wasn't open down the field, he dumped it off quickly to the RB (AD made a good move to get open on one of these plays).
A seven yard pass was hauled in beautifully by Sydney Rice on one play, who some how managed to stay in bounds and pick up around another 10 yards.
Wade & Ferguson Both Made great grabs later on the
sideline was well (not positive if T-Jack threw all of them, but yea)

Etc

One thing that has been good to see, if I often see T-Jack talking with Shiancoe, perhaps trying to get more of a relationship between the two.
Shiancoe did make at least two good grabs that I saw.

Brad Childress is still sporting the bucket hat
;D, along with Karl Dunbar.

Dee McCann saw significant time in the Punt Returner role.
Yea I know, I had to look at my roster after I took pictures to see who he is.
I'm sure they're just trying out all sorts of people for it, he's just the one i saw most of.

Today was team introductions.
First a dude from North Mankato (a sponsor) welcomed everyone, Childress took the mic and thanked everyone for being there and for their support.
Bobby Wade conducted all of the introductions.
Every single player (all 80) had two mini footballs that they autographed then threw into the stands.
Except Adrian Peterson, he threw four.

Bragging

No, I didn't get Sydney Rice (already have it tho), Jared Allen, or Adrian Peterson Autographs (Allen I didn't see sign at all, but I believe he signed like 5 lol)
Adrian Signed about 10, then got told to leave by some member of the organization.

But.. heres what I got.

Brad Childress
Gus Frerottte
Jayme Mitchell
Bernard Berrian
Rufus Alexander
Chris Klewe
Pat Williams
Erin Henderson
Brian Robison
Heath Farwell

and Cheerleaders Andrea & newcomer Sara
