Re:Vikes_King's 4th Annual Training Camp Reports

I should add on the Shuler situation that so far he really hasn't been anything spectacular. I fully believe that he has to really impress during the preseason to land on the roster.

As of now I expect Shiancoe, Kleinsasser, & Mills to make the roster as TEs, and Dugan to be listed as a backup FB and TE in situational drills (goalline, etc). Shuler's best shot at a paycheck this season might be practice squad

Rumors Run Rampant at Morning Practice
Sorry I haven't commented much. Been to damn busy. Anyways, catching up a bit....

The sun was beating down on Mankato when the players took the field for their first practice this morning, temperatures hit the mid 80s and are expected to rise to around 90 by the time they regroup for the second practice of the day.
Perfect scene setter. Thanks my friend.

Rookie G Chris DeGeare took most snaps with the 1st team offense today in 11 on 11 workouts, Steven Hutchinson sat out
Could we be seeing Hutch's replacement?

Garrett Mills drop a perfect throw from Sage Rosenfels in full team drills today, would have been a 20 yard gain
Why is this guy even on the roster?

    Thanks for the report.
Maybe they drop Mills to make room for the kickoff specialist. lol
Sounds to me like ole Shortwell is getting a run for his money on FG's as well........Uhhhhhh Ohhhhh, maybe we can save a roster spot and get rid of his EXPUKER butt as well...

On a side note, my apologies to VK for injecting this into his thread, but Mars started it. :woohoo:
Doubt it. Did you see the new depth chart. lol
YUP, and I saw a whole bunch of yutz's making a big deal out of it.

You check out who is behind who on the QB depth chart?

Keep trying though. This is fun.
Keep trying?! So you are right now? What happened to there is no right or wrong. You waffle more than Favre.

Well, today was the last full team practice of camp, and it was an interesting one (They're holding special teams practice right now). Here is my report and observations:

How does my question get lumped into a right/wrong stance?

Me thinks that this is a convienient way for you to go ahead and dodge the question.

On a side note, I find it funny that the staff continues to bring in cats to fix the KOff issues and when they don't make the roster you claim your right.

Doesn't the mear fact that the staff continues to address the issue make you feel that you are missing the mark a bit in this discussion?

Each and every year, we should see rooks having a harder and harder time cracking the roster.

Case in point, Gerhart. Almost to a man, PPO'rs thought he would be the guy to step in and land the number 2 spot, completely discounting AY because of how little they had seen of him during his short career, when in fact, it appears that AY might just be ready to take that next step.

AA is another fine example. Even though young Cook seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders for the game, AA, from what I've read, has had a pretty good camp as well.

I for one, hope to all that is holy, want to believe that in almost every circumstance, the cat that has time in the scheme, should almost always out perform the rookie that was just drafted.

On a side note, I still don't know why Mills is on the roster. He sure hasn't really shown anything. Maybe he is just a slow developer.

Ah yes the old dodge the question that you throw out all the time. What question? There is none. There are reasons why the bring in that garbage. Camp and preseason leg. But you keep thinking that someday they will replace LONGwell. We will see how that works out for ya. lol
